I never follow this topic so don't kill me, but has anyone tried to include Alderney into their IV maps?

Nope
There aren't too many screens taken place in Alderney except for the Ferry Terminal, and possibly the one where Niko is driving in the suburbs
The only boroughs they've really shown are Broker and Algonquin...They did show Dukes in the 2nd and 3rd trailer though

I think I found a mistake in the broker map. I think the circled intersection should be somewhere along the street with the overhead train above it, as indicated bij the blue arrow.

On the right side of this screenshot you can clearly see the braces from the overhead train.
This is also backed up by the fact that the street in this screen is approx the same length as the street one block north.

I noticed that too. tounge.gif But the thing that troubled me was, when you look at the bottom of the street in this shot, you can't see train tracks and you can't see any shadow of train tracks. That's why I wasn't sure. Very puzzling indeed. Hmm... maybe the tracks *are* there but they screwed up the shadows?

[Edit] Yeah, I think you're probably right. It's wierd how this shot doesn't have any shadows though.

[Edit2] Updated.

Yeah this is all really really great work. I'd have started doing all this myself seeing as I'm pretty handy with spatial relations and cartography, but it seem that Timmons and Adam have this bad boy covered. How about trying to hook up Alonquin and Broker together via the bridge into one map?

there is nothing like a good bit of help smile.gif, so if you notice anything we haven't or are able to identify buildings or able to add to or join the maps, it would be great if you posted in here smile.gif

For sure. Just waiting on some new material though. I think we've pretty much exhausted most of what we've been given thus far.

@adamcs: maybe LOD kicked in, and that may not contain the train-shadows..

One more thing that bothers me about the broker-map is the blue road on this map:
user posted image

It doesn't make sense to me, to have a road with houses leading onto the navy yard. Where on the other side there is a big gate, that says that you can only enter with valid ID or something along that line. It makes make more sense that the blue road is connected to the circled intersection, in my opinion.

Is there any visual evidence that this is NOT the case ?

Perhaps. If you look at this shot, you can see taxis and other cars freely entering the area. But even if it is restricted, it doesn't matter, because that road you are talking about doesn't lead into the navy yard. You can see from that same shot there is a wall or something seperating the road from the navy yard..

You can see from that same shot there is a wall or something seperating the road from the navy yard..

But it also appears to be fenced/bricked off towards the back... the naval yard is on a lower elevation than the surrounding area the farther you look into the background. That would indicate that the road doesn't connect.

This shot Screen shows that the road inside the naval yard kinda is curving to the (viewers) right... or the left if you were looking at it with your back to the sign/entrance.

Amazing work on laying out Liberty City so far lads/gals, keep up the great work.

Also loving the little map that's been posted on GTA4.net with the red arrows.

The area with the lighthouse is actually Roosevelt Island, not a part of Broker. In real life, Roosevelt Island is in between Manhattan and Queens, dead smack in the middle of the East River with the Queensboro Bridge crossing above it. In the game, it appears to be in between Algonquin and Broker with the Algonquin (Manhattan) Bridge passing above it.

It's only a small area of Broker remember. It's not the full Broker map.

Yup you got it. A lot of the screenshots and video was made in that area so thats why people have been able to come up with such detailed maps. It is without a doubt much larger, we only have a small concentrated area mapped because we need significant overlap in the photos or video to make reference points etc etc.
