Alienware X51...slightly cramped!

I always wondered, how are the temps?

I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with a GTX680 in that size case unless it was water cooled. Mine has a voracious appetite for cold, sweet, crisp air that my huge-ass Corsair case can barely deliver.

Compact desktops, in my opinion, are rather pointless. They sacrifice space, accessibility, and performance (since you can't fit a triple slot Asus GTX 680 in there) just to be a little smaller. If they were really small, then there's a selling point, but the fact that they are about as big as a Xbox 360, maybe even slightly bigger, isn't enough to say 'we have built a compact gaming desktop', because it's only half-arsed when it comes to being compact, and it's probably not got much behind it anyway.

You can't fit reasonable sized radiators in such a small case, so water cooling wouldn't help that much.

You could always mount the radiators externally. Then again, that would significantly increase the overall size...

@Narcis_speed6 - Idling its in the high 30's. After a few hours of FC3 its in the mid 60's. A few times it has hit 70 but only on a very hot day. Not surprising living in Eastern Africa.

With the Falcon NorthWest Tiki there is a water cooling option for the system, but the system is really expensive the last time I checked it out. The good thing about my X51 is that I can carry it to a friend's place, plug it into a tv and play a few multiplayer games with a few mates. If they can have the latest hardware and be easily upgradeable (like big normal desktops, sadly the X51 doesn't allow that much in the way of upgradeability unlike the Tiki & Bolt) then I don't think they are pointless....unless you want multiple gpus, hdds etc then they are useless. I at the end of the day would rather build my own pc than than buy one but was only in the UK for less than a week. (Also the X51 is small enough to carry as hand luggage!) When the time comes in a few years, will use the X51 case for future builds...could be a fun project.

I'm using the Token icon set on Objectdock. I'll be honest though, I'm already a bit bored of using them. The best icons I've used to date are this guy's. I simply love the style.

Interesting desktop folders. You may want to Boot And Nuke your hard drive before you dispose of it.

You would only do it when you sell the PC. It basically fills the hard drive with random gibberish so that other people cannot retrieve personal data from the hard drive. After a Boot And Nuke you could safely sell it unless you wanted to keep it and use it for storage or something.
