guys we're in the wrong line of work.

https://theartifox.c...ing-desk-02-oak

1400 dollars for a thin wood frame, couple of spindles, and a top?

the standing-desk business is the new gold rush.

Minimalism is the way to go. The simpler it is the more you can charge. Honestly if I didn't work on my feet all day I would have a standing desk at home too.

I'll stick to Ikea desks. Too bad they didn't have a larger one that looked like the one I have. The larger the better.

the only thing minimalist in there would be the money in my pocket :p

mine is from ikea cost me 90$ :) 180x70 cm  and mutch more minimalistic look then that one, no fancy dock to place the ipad, nor hook for the phones.

for 1200$ i would expect at least a standing desk to go up and down by pressing a button

My ideal desk would be made of the same granite countertop and cabinets as the kitchen and bathrooms of the house. My uncle did that at his house for his home office. It's f*cking beautiful.

Something like these more or less.

Took the top part off the desk. Still need a new desk overall but this is a good temporary solution.

Been forever since I posted here.

My whole "setup" - a gigantic TV (good monitors are just as expensive as this so why not), a PS3 below it and my PC next to it. Best o' Everything, I guess?

Got some furniture risers in the mail today which will allow me to use an old kitchen table as my desk which is in way better shape than my last post above shows.

Still, the table is higher than Id prefer but now my chair can fit under it with its armrests raised due to the flange or whatever its called supporting the table under the top part. The extender piece in the middle will still allow me to use my flight yoke and steering wheel if needed.

Some people prefer it. Just like the XP style taskbar.

I mean doubling the width of the bar. That's not a default setting.

When working on projects and having multiple programs open ie Photoshop/C4D/Vegas/AAE/etc plus other 24/7 stuff it gets a little cramped, sure I could use icons but I prefer having full names for programs so extending the taskbar doesn't bother me.

You can do the full names thing with Windows 10 and it looks fantastic:

So this happened:

Colleague has just bought one of the 240Hz monitors for Overwatch nerding. So for £400 I've picked up a nearly new ROG Swift.

good call Sivis.

this Summer I also upgraded from 27" to 32," finally migrating from 1920x1080 to 25x14 and it's been great. I was a little hesitant at first because the overwhelming majority of video editing I do is working within 1080. I rarely get 2K footage and nobody is producing yet in 4K; not for serious distribution. but I'm really pleased with how awesome my games look now. the amount of new real estate is beautiful.

I'll jump on the 4K bandwagon when displays allow faster refresh rates. HDMI 2.1 will be out in TVs and monitors this year or 2018 and it might replace DP (unles DP 1.4 comes out as well, but HDMI 2.1 has more bandwidth). HDMI is also aiming to bring truly open source frame sync technology to monitors (TVs as well) so maybe we'll do away with G-sync\Free Sync in the next 2 years.

I'm currently attempting to sell my 980 Ti and I will probably get a 1080 Ti in a few months. I want to buy some audio gear in the meantime and then there's the Xbox One X pre-order (which I may or may not cancel until November 7).
