Nice halftone work. I loved Kentucky a ton, so I'm looking forward to the split as well. Where'd you find that shirt?

dont really like kvelertak
definitely would like to see gojira and mastodon though
#4125
Posted 14 February 2014 - 08:09 PM
Yeah, Kvelertak kind of reminds me of a crustier Turbonegro, and really kind of boring. Standard bluesey rock riffs and shoehorned black metal vocals, but the production is way too clean to be very effective.
Say what you will about Mastodon, but they're fun as hell live. Gojira is consistently solid as well.

Hell yeah. Mastodon is great and fun live. I get confused when people say they're one of the worst bands they've ever seen live. Can't get into Kvelertak as hard as I try. Like you said, they're boring.
Got BTBAM, Deafheaven and Intronaut coming up in a little over a week. Might see Russian Circles with KEN Mode a couple days before as well. Other than that I don't have any shows planned till Carcass, Black Dahlia Murder, Gorguts and Noisem in April. That show is gonna be great but I hope Carcass doesn't overload the set with Surgical Steel songs. You talk about boring, I couldn't make it through that whole thing. Maybe it got better but I wasn't patient enough.

Carbon Based Anatomy was amazing, can't wait for the new album.
Don't suppose you've listened to kindly bent to free us yet? I've listened to it twice and I think it's pretty decent. Even the first track they released, The Lions Roar, which I didn't like to begin with has sort of grown on me. I've heard people complain about the complete lack of death metal vocals and have abondoned this as the same Cynic that did Focus, but then again a lot of those people did that for Carbon Based Anatomy. Hell they even did at Traced in Air. Anyway yeah it was great, certainly unique, I like the direction in which the album went.

most of the 2014 releases ive been looking forward to most based on the artists' previous releases are seemingly all stripped of their metal influence (lantlos, cynic, alcest) as well as that wittr thing but i havent really seen anything on that
i mean not really because cynic's last release already wasnt really metal and this lantlos track is still pretty post-metally but still
im still enjoying them all but its a little depressing
save me, panopticon/falls of rauros

I've been obsessing on Autopsy's new material. All of the stuff that has been released so far has been absolutely brilliant. I can't wait to hear the upcoming CD.

Autopsy kills. Their comeback album from a few years back blows most if modern dm acts out of the f*cking water.

I like metal and rock music like Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, All that remains, As I lay dying, some Atreyu, some Bullet... stuff like that.
I do love the heavy stuff, but not speed metal. Closest I get to speed metal is older Trivium.
Also, I too think old Metallica will never die.

I went to that show about two weeks ago. It was amazing. Deafheaven was awe inspiring. I almost died a couple times but overall a great night. Definitely recommend seeing Deafheaven live if you have the chance.
