I'm not familiar, but this is great.

Also, that's awesome that you dig the record. I know I mentioned it earlier but we finally recorded a new single last weekend at an auditorium in my city's natural history museum, and it should be out next month. It was fueled by dinosaur bones and indigenous flint spears.

Anything fueled by those things must be interesting. Looking forward to it mate, I thoroughly enjoyed Dawn for Vultures.

I plan on getting it sometime in the next several weeks. I can't afford it at the moment since all of my money is tied up in a local harsh noise show that I am putting on next month. Sure, it will be weird not having Ken Owen behind the kit, but if I remember correctly he did do some backing vocals which is pretty cool. Plus, with Bill Steer singing again, that should be neat.

Why do Americans love heavy metal so much? Or more on average than the rest of the world anyway?

Black Dahlia Murder, Skeletonwitch, Altars of Plague, Cult of Luna, Kylesa and Intronaut to name a few. There's too many great releases in general this year.

Saw Eyehategod last night at a local bar. No stage or anything. Complete floor show. So heavy I almost hurled. Killer show.

Eyehategod was great in Columbus - they played at AlRosa Villa (where dimebag was shot) and I was surprised there weren't more dimebag jokes. I brought them heroin.

For me (in no particular order):

Ocean Chief - Sten

Windhand - Soma

Bongripper/Conan Split

Windhand/Cough Split

Kylesa - Ultraviolet

Uncle Acid - Mind Control

Deafheaven - Sunbather

Orchid - The Mouths of Madness

Naam - Vow

I saw them in London on sunday! They was in very good form indeed! Plus the new album is killer.

Here's a clip from the gig:

Totally forgot about Deafheaven. Great album that pisses off black metal snobs. Like I said, there's a lot of great releases out. I've just gotten around to listening to the new Church of Misery. Good sh*t. After that I got the new Melvins to listen to as well.

Oranssi Pazuzu would be worth checking out. They're way more psychedelic than jazz, but their rhythms are quite jazz-reminiscent. Their newest album is less psychedelic but heavy as sh*t.

Haha what a crazy coincidence, i was actually listening to Oranssi Pazuzu while writing this post :D and i wanted to post the song Andromeda here, it has some really nice shoegazing, but couldn't find it on youtube. And yup they are more psychedelic than jazz (kinda creative), their first album is the best in my opinion.

I was kinda looking for something like Last-Minute Lies by Fleurety (they released a new crazy EP this year by the way), or like the self titled EP by I Left the Planet.

But thanks anyway, and you must be a mind reader Moonshield.

Another could be, and they're not metal but they're super dark and slow, is Bohren & der Club of Gore. The only way I could describe it is doom jazz.

Rocking out to Cynic "Focus" on cassette. It still holds up after all of this time (The cassette, that is). I haven't heard the record that Cynic released since they reformed. Does anyone have an opinion of it? Good or Bad?

I was never a huge fan of Cynic, but I didn't care much for their latest release though some other metalheads seemed to like it. The single they promo'd last month was laughably bad.

Here's my newest song, just finished it the other day. It has a slow, heavy intro, then gets a little faster. It's in Eb tuning which is different than what I normally do (Drop D, C) so I think it turned out good. What do you guys think?
