And epic landscapes of snow and ice. That too.

I just got the new Red Harvest. It's pretty good, but I need to give it another listen.

Make sure to take me with you. We can battle battles in the North.

SHUT UP! SOLARFALL!

Nothing can beat "LOVE IS A FORCE OF BLASHYRKH".

On the subject of concerts, Heaven And Hell, Megadeth, and Down are coming to Vancouver. I'm dying to go, but I can't get in alone, and even if I could, it's a metal concert and I'm a kid. That means no moshing, which is half the experience.

I'll have to stick to my recently found Rust In Peace.

It is awesome that immortal is going to play one of its shows in NY, its highly possible that I will go, also a friend recently called me and said that cannibal corpse is supposed to be here on apr. 29th, last day of spring break, getting tickets soon, if it is true. As for Wacken, can someone smuggle me there? The show+ lineup is just killer, its a shame that there isn't such a great festival here in the states.

Well at least we have Ozzfest for free. tounge.gif

I'm still down for Wacken 08. The people in this topic should definately open and fun and start saving up so we can make the pilgrimage.

X: Wacken, not Wakken. wink.gif

Oh and Cannibal Corpse being there would probably be rather lame. I mean the new album is cool but apparently they're banned from playing any material from their first 3 albums in Germany so so much for Hammer Smashed Face.

Just thought I would post this here. Ensiferum have announced European tour dates for the month of April. Not sure when tickets go on sale.

Ensiferum Site - Tourdates
Metal Storm - Tour Dates

This is awesome news as they are one of my favourite bands and one of the greatest Folk/Viking metal bands around. Anyone else into Ensiferum?

God damn. I have no idea why Wacken didn't think of booking Emperor with Immortal.

Speaking of those bands. I don't care how I get there now, I'm going to see both these f*cking bands in New York over the summer. I'm going to order some Emperor tickets tomorrow or Sunday. Hopefully there will still be some V.I.P tickets left for that.

Holy crap tickets for immortal are at 60 a piece, add on extra convenience charges and you got yourself an arm and a leg, or money well spent. I also noticed that 1349, Goatwhore, Nachtmystium and Averse Sefira are playing at b.b. kings on apr. 1st. Definitely going to see that.

Has anyone here heard of Lightning Bolt? They've been described as speed metal, math-rock, experimental, etc. To me, they sound pretty damn good. Loud blasts of bass guitar and non-stop streaming of drums. icon14.gif

I'm not a big fan of noise music, and lightning bolt reminds me a lot of melt banana, and that's not a good thing.

I'm not a fan of noise. If you like them, you'd probably like powerviolence stuff, though I can't really recommend any bands.

So I got some random buys lately. They're all really f*cking good, too!

Krisiun - AssassiNation

Well, I had no idea who these guys were, I just though the album artwork was really f*cking sweet. It's Death Metal that I can actually tolerate, which is nice. I've been hooked on this sh*t lately.

Cellador - Enter Deception

Hey! If you say their name really fast, it sounds like you are saying "cellar door"! Once again, I had no f*cking idea what I was buying. I thought the album artwork was pretty cool though I wasn't expecting this group out of Omaha, Nebraska to play Power Metal this f*cking fast. They are heavily inspiried by Dragonforce, but it's got so much more variety and they are 10x better than them.

The vocalist reminds me a little bit of Helloween's vocalist. Random.

Xentrix - Shattered Existence

These guys from the UK originally started out as a Metallica cover band and you can tell the influence - especially in the vocals. However, this album has alot more technicality and speed than Metallica. While Metallica tended to experiment* with their Thrash sound, this album is a straight up speed-fest. The riffs all together aren't reminiscent of Metallica at all. Solid, technical and fast Thrash Metal.

Xentrix - For Whose Advantage?

This was the follow-up to their debut album Shattered Existence. While their debut album relied more heavily on fast and ultra-aggressive rythmes(sp) and patterns, For Whose Advantage? relies much more on technicality and progression rather than aggression. Your final result is much more technical and concentrated progressive-like Thrash with variety that does have its fast and aggressive parts; though it does not rely so heavily on them.

I plan to go back and get Sadus, Metal Church, Toxik and Turbo sometime real soon.

EDIT: Typos and grammar f-ups.

Sweet. My Atheist shirt came in today. Now me and Trows can be metal shirt twins.

Possibly going to purchase some CD's tomorrow, mainly the Atheist trilogy. Anyone got some good black metal recommendations for me while I'm there? Something along the lines of Emperor, Burzum, Enslaved and Gorgoroth.

I had a period of fascination with Lightning Bolt in the late 2005 and early 2006, but I barely listen to them anymore. Maybe I'll make a comeback to them one day, but right now they sound pretty repetitive and simply tiring.

But I still think "Assassins" is one of the most kickass and energetic songs I've ever heard.

Also, lol @ their live performances.

I'm quite sure I'm late with any recommendations, but I can recommend you (sorry in advance if you already know or have any albums) some older stuff by Behemoth. They're playing blackened death metal now, but in the past they were playing rather pure black metal. Albums like "Sventevith" or "Grom" are good points to start. icon14.gif
