I tired to remove the lights on the rear of the police bike to make it look like a more realistic police bike.

I created a monster.

A new W.I.P.
Figured I'd bump this old topic, wish it were more active.

This one's for SA; a modified and slightly higher quality Elegy model. Some of the body is still original, being the sides; however the Front,Front Bump,Rear,Skirts,Engine Bay,Interior,Boot,Bonnet,Wheels,Wheel Arches and Roof have all been recreated.

Interior is designed in a 90's-esque theme with slightly modern additions, front end is now more convex instead of boxed, both front and rear lights redesigned (front hidden in the these snaps).

The doors have full frame windows because I did not originally have it planed as a convertible, though a hardtop and canvas roof will be included as extra's.

...and the name should be left unquestioned.

That name xD

Anyways, this looks really damn good, nicely done, any chance that you also make it read 'ELEGY' on the back as an extra?

Yessir, I can imagine if I find no other use for the other 2 extra's, they will be the same Hardtop/Canvas roof variants that will instead use an 'Elegy' name plate. :p

Thanks for the comment btw.

----Edit:

Boot finished, Interior and Engine bay shown. Still to add frame rails which will span the car in one piece.

Keep in mind this is not meant to be a completely realistic model, nor overly detailed; just a model somewhere slightly higher than something from IV.  :turn:

16/03/2014 Update:

-Mod may be temporarily postponed while I collab on another small project, probably a week or so. Since the screenshot above:

  • Underbody created with some of the mechanics complete; this resulted in recreating areas of the car such as bits of the engine bay, wheel wells, lower bumper and skirt lips etc.
  • New sideskirt design, looking sharper and higher poly, also better fitting for future overlapping tuning pieces.
  • Engine model started, based on the RB26DE, but obviously not accurate. Engine polycount will be about quadruple that of a default SA/IV engine, so nothing spectacular but nothing crap.

Nothing fancy. I'm still not sure whether or not to keep working at this and make a thread for it or just to let it die.

Wow, the actual Benson replacement... As far as I know, it's the only one out there, definitely worth time & attention imho :)

That's a good point. Only Benson mods on GTAGarage I recall are just changing the advertisements. Sure, I'll put more work into this and stuff.

Thanks amigo, I got this much done today, which doesn't look like much but basically what it was, I "carved out", for lack of a better term, some wheel wells for the rear wheels since they were common in the 1960s and stuff, like this 60s Benson. I also got rid of the chrome trim on the cab which I got the idea from while talking to ALMOST610 on it. Now I reckon all I gotta do is do the LOD model, damage models, and set the carcols before I get it running ingame. I'd make a thread but I don't know if that'd be calling it too early.

You're welcome. Any SA-styled vehicle (especially commercial vehicles) looks amazing to me. :)

I'd say make a thread now, for many reasons. It'd get noticed more, you can get more suggestions from other members and it'd hopefully make you want to do more threads like it. ;)

But, of course, it's your decision.

Keep up the good work!

EDIT: one question, will the Sadler part have specular lighting? Because R* messed it up.

So, I've been away from 3D modelling for something like 7 years, and I've never been a good modeller to start with.

So, I had in my hands Driver 2's extracted models and tried challenging me into making Chicago's first car better looking, just to train a little. Here's the results so far (there's still lots to do). Also, I didn't show textures because, hey, it's still a mess in that department :p

TEJ1vv2.png?1

It's coming rather nice so far, in my humble, non-modeller opinion :p

Sounds like a plan, I'll end up doing that shortly.

And specular lighting? I never noticed Rockstar messing it up

yeah, R* messed it up with the Sandking, Super GT and a load of other vehicles too, hehe. That's why they look so dark. :)
