Holy tits, the more I study illustrator, the more awesome it seems.

Only thing I hate about it is applying blending options. Inner glow couldn't be gayer if it tried.

Is a great piece and let me offer you some advices:
First, the gradient you applied has one of the basic Photoshop/Illustrator errors, which can be easily fixed by creating the gradient on a 16 bit image then switching back to 8bit or vice versa.

Created on 8/16 bit directly (like what you did)
Created on 16 bit, switched to 8.

Here is the fixed background, you can use it on your piece.
Second, the lamp is a little blurry at the top. Is hard to tell if wanted it that way or you used low quality resources.
I created a new lamp from scratch, feel free to use it in your work:

Third, the image sharing site you are currently using (imgur) has a stupid compression settings, I recommend using photobucket (just a suggestion, not advertising)

This is the fixes put together:

Thing is, I used multiple layers of fill on illustrator to generate the gradient, since default never works. Plus film grain to give it a bit more ruggedness.

The shape looked blurred since inner glow doesn't work the way I expected, as it does in photoshop normally. Was trying out other approaches towards inner glow/shadow.

It may seem bad mainly due to the image compression from imgur. But your take on the gradient is rather poor I'll be honest. While it is smoother, it is nothing that it was supposed to be.

As part of my studies I'll get that sorted out.

I don't need any of your defined shape cutouts, since I have a very defined shape made by myself while working on this with illustrator.

Just made something for my art lesson (or how it's called). There was no theme, so I decided to make this.

Haven't posted here in a while so have some WIP. Pretty much inspired by Whiskey's work.

Great to see someone inspired by my work. More rewarding than anything else! Cheers bro <3

I've just always been keen on your sorta' artstyle. I guess you could say its very slick in a way - or at least that's how I describe it. tounge.gif

Another piece I did in that style; http://farm9.staticf...ddcd83112_h.jpg.

@CeeJayWaffles. Awesome work as always. Really like your style, too. Very sharp and vibrant. Pleasing to look at.

Just finished this up, the background mountains need a little work though. Other than that, I'm happy with it.

Basically, only boxart parts allowed. Turned out more like a collage, though. Meh, procrastination.

The image looks too squished. Scale it more vertically and it'll look better.

That's pretty nice man!

Right, I've recently realised that if I wanna start really upping my game PS wise, I've gotta try get a tablet. I was doing a few projects yesterday and just repeatedly getting annoyed at the mouse's lack of pressure recognition.

Anyone got any good suggestions for tablets? The one I'm currently considering is the Wacom CTL 470. Dunno if any of you happen to have used it before?

Any suggestions are much appreciated icon14.gif

@Diggdydog

With Wacom tablets you can't really go wrong, obviously the more expensive one you get the more bells and whistles it will have but I reckon it'll only be as good as you are, meaning you could spend £££'s on the XL version of the newest model but your work would look the same as if you bought the entry model, because the extra buttons, sensitivity levels, wireless, larger drawing space are just enhancements that'll make your working experience a little quicker or more comfortable, rather than drastically improving your skill level. Its probably best to go with the best you can afford without breaking the bank, so that if you don't like it, can't get used to it or simply get bored you can move on without the sting from the large hole it made in your pocket. That doesn't include the Cintiq, for obvious reasons you'll find out when you Google it wink.gif

Tip: if you're a student in the UK or have a student friend you trust, get them to buy one as some educational sellers have wacom as a partner, meaning you can get one at a discount.

I managed to get an intuos4M for £150, retailed at almost double that when I bought mine.

My advice would be to get one, I've never looked back. You'll have to be patient and persevere with it but the results worth it, I'm still learning and I doubt i'll ever reach its full potential. I mainly use it for character designs:

My first attempt at Cinema 4D animation. The glitch at the very beginning had something to do with the exporting but it seems fine when I used it in my most recent upload.

I'm pretty sure Sony Vegas would suffice and get the job done just fine.

If you're not into warez or anything of that sort you could also download the free trial here.
