Anyone else playing with this yet? Ran like treacle until I installed the sound card drivers, but pretty sweet now. Haven't played with it much yet, but seems much nicer than beta 2.

I noticed this yesterday and I am tempted to try it out. I need to format my HDD soon so I may try it out for a short while.

I downloaded Vista RC 1, a few weeks ago, been waiting for my key. Microsoft have only just got around to emailing me the key, only to find out that its the same as the Beta 2 key.

I can't speak for all but so far I haven't found any bugs. It seems to run way more smoother than the previous release. So far so good! icon14.gif

I just tried it out and I must say I love this much more than XP, very smoothly running, looks good, overall great OS so far. I hope Microsoft can keep it as good as it is atm.

Just like most of the people, no sound drivers here either.

Just trying it in a Virtual PC, using VMWare.

Upgrade advisor just warned me about my old gfx card. So I won't be able to use the aero thing yet.

Meh... If everything works fine, I'll dual boot with it later.

lol, a friend of mine is borrowing my Nvidia 6200GS 256mb AGP, so I'm using internal graphics and I've got Aero.

I just downloaded it last night, and got my key today, and installed on a dual boot with XP. Seems pretty nice, and my sound actually worked just fine when I installed it. except a few times the sound started to crack when I played stuff, but that stopped after just a close and reopen of the program playing the media. Otherwise I like it.

I heard it has a new window graphic system that uses vectors instead of mere bitmaps... has that been revealed in the test version? What does it look like? I've never seen a picture of it.

Anyone planning on buying Vista? I might get it if I can rent it from my university via MSDN academic alliance but I'm not going to pay $100 or 200 for the XP upgrade. I thought about buying a copy of Suse Linux desktop instead since I don't do any extreme gaming--I just play old stuff like GTA: Vice City and Heroes 4 on my PC. My system isn't exactly what one would call a powerhouse so I'm afraid of Vista lol.

Also, don't buy any Linux software. I guess if you want the pretty packaging and whatnot, but you might as well just download the iso

That's an interesting way of rendering windows between Alt Tab's but I don't know if my ATI Radeon x200 would appreciate all that while trying to run games lol.

I would only consider purchasing Linux CD's if I get too lazy to download the isos. I used my university's connection but even that took about 5 hours.

I'm actually interested in trying this out. If I was to download the ISO, would I need a DVD to burn it to in order to install Vista? Or can it be done without?

Not if you get a key for it. You can try it for 14 days reguardless, but you need a key for unlimited use.

Yes! it will be vectors for Windows instead, but for now we will be seeing only bitmaps until we can get the spankin new GFX's Cards that will support DirectX10 and take advantage of the new API, Can't wait. inlove.gif
