According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) officials "the E3 industry event, in its present form, has been cancelled for next year and the foreseeable future". The believed reason for this is purely econimical, organising didn't pay off.

Has the gaming industry lost her major spotlight event, or will an alternative be found?

It can't be too expensive because major game companies pay to get their spots at E3 so the cost has to balance out. It isn't free to get a booth at E3, nor do I think it's cheap. If it's gone forever I might just die, not really but some people might. How will I find out about the next gen if e3 isn't there to tell me. [feedlepostion]

Next time I say they should charge the average joe a entry fee($50), and that way they could lighten the price for the game companies to be there. Therefore the public could finally enter, the organizers can get paid, and the companies could show their sh*t off. It's a win/win.

I guess we could look on the bright side. The long summer gaming lull, wont seem as long, without the hyping of fall and winter games, via E3.

Now what will Jordan boast he's been to?

You know he's been to E3 right?

That's ridiculous. There's an E3 copycat in Mexico called the Electronic Game Show (yes, that's the actual name, don't try to translate it tounge.gif ), albeit not as huge or as spectacular as the original. The videogame industry in Mexico is severely hit by piracy, yet they manage to pull this show each year at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, which is not a cheap place to hold an expo. If this is possible under the conditions previously stated, then how come the all-mighty E3 is going to shrink down or get suspended altogether? dontgetit.gif

Bahahahaha. That is f*cking classic.

No biggie for me. It's a shame that the video gaming industry could lose their big showcase and all, but I wouldn't really miss all the hype surrounding it.

I read about this yesterday. It pissed me off, but what do we expect? I mean after Ps3 comes out we won't need any other things like E3 because there won't be any new systems after it. So why bother?...Besides Japan still has somthing like E3 to begin with last time I checked.

UPDATE

1. E3 2007 will be held in July
2. Severely reduced number of people will attend
3. More intimate (more quiet interaction with developers) with possibly no big showoff booths

That's more like the Game Developer's Conference, or GDC. I want a big-ass event that I wait half a year for!
