Requesting a Lot
Posts here should only be for you to request or relinquish ownership of lots. Lot Discussion is for questioning a decision, asking about the maps and discussing themes for districts.

Rules
  • You must have some talent, lots aren't just being given out to random people.
  • 4 month limit (Must have at least 1 release, or lose lot).
  • Post progress updates to the Picture Preview Topic.

It is not. My map is official, that one is not. But sorry for not having yours up there, it seems it didn't update properlly on my FTP.

But alas, i'm afriad i'll have to see some work from yeti first. I should have got him to show some stuff before.

Message: Haven't textured it yet, only spent about twenty minutes total on it I get distracted easily , last I check it was around 200 tris and i've been welding excess vertices so it'll be lower than that.

As much as I like to trust Knife, you're not really convincing me by showing a cube with stairs. Haven't you got any previous work?

the rules for lot allocation clearly state that if somebody wishes to contribute to this mod they must show previous work before they are allocated anything, this way we avoid months of time wasting by possible noobs who think it would be a good idea to start a modding hobby with Myriad, then 4 months down the line we see nothing and the lot is still empty ............. we have seen this so many times in the past.

no offence intended YeTi but those are the rules and that includes everyone.

Of course but as I said twenty minutes work, as for previous work. I've got a few renders of my learning in my Photobucket Album I have done quite a bit of other modeling but they're in Imageshack so I can't dig out all the URL's, i've got a few progress renders of a Audi TT I was modeling in the PPT in the vehicles forum, not much but meh I had to go away before I could finish it and the Myriad Lot kind of took over when I made my mind up what I wanted to model. I will work some more on it tomorow, get the exterior looking better.

You really must show your 3d skills before you can take a lot.

Your portfolio, I'm sure, doesn't do you justice.
Have you managed to get anything in game? (MI-SA I mean).
If you have, then show it.

It's not a portfolio of such more renders of when I was learning new techniques, as for getting things in SA yeah i've done it in the past but haven't done it for a while due to my SA Disc being corrupt and not installing, and like most of my uploaded images they're Imageshack so I can't dig the URL's out easily.

I'm going to get to work on it again today and hopefully get the building somewere near finished.

***Important news for GTI lot owner's***


Grand Tani Island has moved ............ +450.99 on the Y axis.

GTI's position on the map was never originally discussed properly so the island was simply placed on the map near illurb and there was a lot of map space wasted.

also while constructing the link road to illurb i ran into a very large problem ...................... the train station and the rail track clash with the planned link road route and i had no space to spare and the whole thing would have been messy.

as you can see from this screen illspirit added some extra land to accomodate the train station, had he chosen elsewhere to place the station my original plan might have worked ................. oh well biggrin.gif

Where is the water level? you can do a tunnel, down with the road when its near illurb... or call illspirit to elevate the terrain here.

GForce, you should have posted in the MI Railway thread if you planned to build anything which would cross under/over/across the railway. Hopefully this will be a lesson for others! tounge.gif

I havn't seen any discussion about the relocation of GTi? Big changes like this should really be made open to public discussion in a new topic in this MI forum. Does the GTi team know about the change?

If you intend to tunnel through the cliff of East illURB, you stand a good chance of clashing with the railway tunnel which passes through there. Illspirit and I have been adjusting the route through there recently to accomodate the terrain changes which have followed on from the new station. He's the only one that knows exactly where it will be going, I just figure out the general route. smile.gif

Anyway, good luck sorting out a bridge.

Should the coastline of the map be updated to show what the coastline is actually like now people have built on it? For example, the North East now has a big cutout from the Marina and a big extension from DieselGT's docks. There's also a tiny island in the South-east, plus the power station island and a few other alterations. smile.gif

Ummm, I can't notice one difference in quailty.. And it's smaller in jpeg.

@Cerb hmmm, maybe like a birds eye screenshot showing all of that with textures and all (I'm talking about the released lots, ofcourse). Rest could stay in the colours.

Fido, this is the Lot Requests topic. You can ask for a lot, but you can't just storm and and say "This bit is mine now"! tounge.gif

Cran, I guess you'd just trace the shape using a graphics program which supports layers. I think it should keep the current colour-coding and text because it's a map of lot ownership, not a radar map of what's actually there.

We need "ONE" map which shows everything!
Allocation, theme and .IDE number/name.

Filling up illcom is the easy part... (ha ha ha)!

When we move over to the 'Northern Islands', it's going to have to change!

We all need to get a handle on the bigger picture.
Or... leave it all to the likes of Gforce/ illspirit/ et al.

I think, no.
Your max skills are insufficiently developed. I don't see application of modifiers in your model. Study 3dsmax and then request lot.
P.S. I've taken an old computer (3ds max doesn't work) from my friend. But at once after the salary in the end of August I'll buy new middle-end PC!

I think once the Nothern islands are finished, we could export a SVG map directly from Max. It could include all the necessary information, and would be easily editable (since it's a text file). And it could be interactive, i.e. provide links to the release topic of certain lots. We would also be able to automatically generate it from a lot database in the future.
