I just want to stress how important spelling is when you post your results.
Spelling not only the user's name, and you're own, but also the mission names

If you want to see a perfect example as to why look at the SNP table in the first post.
Now use your browser's text search (CTRL+F) and look for joe
The first you'll find is Luigi.Joey.Toni.Tommy??? ok that's normal
...next somkinjoe strange spelling but whatever
...next Luigi.Joey.Toni.Tommy??? again but this time in the helper's column which is totally fine
...next smokinjoe <screech fo tires> hold it. Because this goes so far back when the table was created either Rex messed up or the helper did.

With a bit of luck and finesse I was able to correct it and fill in the "black" row once the 2 smokinjoe's were corrected.

I know it's not always easy to spell the name correctly, but then just copy&paste their name from their post work like a charm.
If you do feel the need to type, just get it exactly as it shows on the board....which another reason the olf copy&paste works well.

As for the mission names, I could have posted one example but I've deleted that collections post already. I can tell is that mission name as spelled by either the helper or the user was Interdication. I double check my printed check sheet and several FAQs to make sure it's spelled right or wrong, obviously it was wrong. It should have been Interdiction no a in there.

If you can't spell your name correctly, then you've got a serious problem. Just smack yourself now before I have do it later. tounge.gif

//edit
My own spelling fixed.
Give me a break, I had been staring at table code for about an hour straight.

For Internet Explorer users there's a FREE app that can help called IESpell you can even add words to your custom dictionary:

QUOTE
Features

  • Completely standalone spell checker for your web browser. Does not require Microsoft Office or any other third party components.
  • Integrates flawlessly with Internet Explorer and other IE based browsers.
  • Three ways to start the spell check; via the right click context menu, the toolbar or the menu bar.
  • Supports a wide range of web applications including simple text forms, rich text editors, forums, blogs, webmail (including Outlook Web Access and Lotus iNotes) and more!
  • Spell check in any of the 3 variants (US, UK and Canadian) of the English Language!
  • Suggestions are sorted by the degree of closeness with the misspelled word.
  • Intelligent suggesting for misspelled words using typographic “looks like” matching.
  • Easily add/remove your personal words in ieSpell via an intuitive user interface!
  • Organise your personal words in individual custom dictionaries! Share them with your friends and co-workers over the network!
  • Integrates with Microsoft Office's proofing tools. Have ieSpell share the same copy of the custom dictionary so that when you add/remove your personal words in ieSpell, the same is reflected in Microsoft Office and vice versa!
  • ieSpell suggested a word that you are not familiar with? Look up its meaning in an online dictionary!

For Mozilla/Firefox/Thunderbird users try a search Google

There are spell check extensions for FF (here is one) but spell checkers will only help with the mission names. They are completely useless when it comes to the user names which is really more important. The mission names I can usually catch...when I pay attention.

Seems like you could use a spelling checker too tounge.gif

I always do the copy&paste. It's just easier than trying to type out the often awkward user names folks come up with. But I'll make sure to proof before posting to make sure I've got the mission name spelled correctly. Anything to make your work easier, wolf68k (typed, not copied&pasted biggrin.gif )

I'm curious: why are stats collected?

I'm curious: why are stats collected?

Because some day, if I'm still alive (I'm an old fart), I would like to make a graph that will show how many times each mission was requested.

And maybe one that for the helper's column that shows how many people they helped. For some of you if you look at the tabels now you can find your name listed one for each person you helped. If I listed the helper's name each time they did a mission, the table would be littered with names and I'd have to make sure that each mission lined up with that helper. To make it worse what about those times where one helper completes the school but a second helper jumps in and does it for gold.

Now maybe is the time to ask the Admin's for a little bit of space and a dedicated MySQL Database so then you can present all the stats in whatever way you choose wink.gif

I'm always looking for a way to make ti easier to get the stats into the table.
The GTAF Table Generator is ok but it's too limited; can't have a table inside of a table and no text search.

What I would love is a dedicated program for the stats able.
Has a large field that displays how the table will look.
Below that 3 fields; User, Mission, Helper
As I add a new user, it'll automatically increase the Total Users count.
As I add a new line for the Mission name, it'll auto increase the missions count
The helper might be a bit harder, maybe it'll search a database file and see if the name is there and if not it'll increase the Total Helpers count as well.

Each new user will also automatically get their name in either yellow or lime.

And because of the limited number of characters to a post it'll also auto split the list to whatever number of users I want.

Ok even half of that might be asking too much, besides that it's way the hell off topic.

I know little about php, but could that be used to create something like what you're describing?

I don't see why not.
I know nothing really about php. But from what I do know about it, I think it could.

Scripted in PHP and creating/reading/updating a My SQL database would get the desired result.

EDIT: wolf68k check out the "Idea Lab" 1st page there's quite a few guys who could easily sort this out - Tank, Luke, Y_Less to name a few.
