The Chili Peppers new album Stadium Arcadium is now out in some places, and will be released everywhere in the next few days. And it leaked about a week ago. Anyway, I couldn't find a topic, so I figured I'd post one.

I've been listening to it constantly pretty much for the past week, and I can say that I'm pretty damn happy with it. It's a double album with 2 hours worth of music, yet the vast majority of it is quality, and there's hardly any filler. When compared with Californication and By The Way, of which I only like about half of each, this is a fantastic album. Granted, it's no Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but it's certainly their best effort since.

The sound overall is pretty much a mix of older funky chili peppers and newer melodic chili peppers, in a way that I very much enjoy. Standout tracks for me are Charlie, Hump de Bump, Torture Me, Hey, Tell Me Baby, Readymade and Animal Bar. But I pretty much enjoy all the tracks save a couple.

So, for those of you that have heard it, what'd'you think?

(Note: I do not condone illegal downloading of music in any way and will most definately be purchasing the album upon its release here. Even Flea says on their website that he'd do the same (that is, download an album pre-release) of a band he loved.)

A friend of mine finds it totally awesome so I reckon I aquire it as soon as possible, too.

Listened to only a few songs now and it looks good. Red Hot Chili Peppers never failed to amaze me with their songs to be honest with you.

when i woke up this morning

the internet
it does not come out til may 9 but now it has leaked
and not that i know alot about this kind of thing
but i guess now it is possible to down load it for free if you want
well
that's not very nice
if you down load it now off one of these file sharing sites
you will be getting a pale imitation of the record
it will be of the poor sound quality of the technique they used to
get it on there
and that will break my heart
it will break john frusciante's heart
it will break anthony kiedis's heart
and it will break the heart of chad smith
yes, we worked for a year and a half to make the epic record of our
lives
and it is sad to me for the business reasons of course
i think we are selling something really cool and we put all we had
into it, 28 songs, 2 hours of the best that we can offer
and i think it is a fair deal for everyone
and for people to just steal a poor sound quality version of it for free
because some asshole stole it and put it on the internet
is sad to me
but, equitable business reasons aside
the thing that really bums me out is
we worked so hard, and so thoughtfully, all of us, for so long
to make this record sound as warm and full from top to bottom
as was possible
we spent day and night for a year making sure every little sound was
just right
that they were all put together in the most beautiful way we could
we did not leave a stone unturned in doing that work
i can not put in words how much this record, stadium arcadium, means
to us
how sacred the sound of it is to us
and how many sleepless nights and hardworking days we all had
thinking about how to make it be the best sounding thing we could
and now, for someone to take it and put it out there with this poor
sound quality
it is a painful pill for us to swallow
let me tell you
this bums all of us out
and i know that, as sensitive as john frusciante is about sound
the idea of anyone getting and hearing this thing that way
will devastate him
for people to not hear the work the way we meant it to be
will really hurt him deep inside
and all of us will hurt

yes, it is stealing from us, and that is lame
everyone has to live with their own conscience on that one
let it be your guide
but to take a version that has been defiled sound wise
a version in which some idiot has taken our year and a half of soul
baring work and pissed all over it
that will break our hearts

sincerely,

flea

I wonder how much more money a guy like Flea needs. Would he be happy if I downloaded a FLAC version?

Flea doesn't like MP3s @ 192 bitrate. Elitist.

Yes, this album is stellar, and my favorite song is Animal Bar at the moment.

after calming down a little bit
and finding out more about what actually happens
it has been bought to my attention by some intelligent people
that most of the people who down load the record before it comes out
are people who really love our music and believe in what we do
and they go out and get the real thing anyway
but of course they can not wait to hear it
and are willing to hear a substandard version first
because they are excited to hear it
and of course i understand and i would do the same thing
it just really scared me that people would be hearing something
without the depth of sound that we strive for

I can't say I like Dani California, but I will give the album a listen, see how I like it overall.

I am a fan of RHCP.

I've always liked Chili Peppers since a friend told me about them a few years ago. I like Californication, Under the Bridge, By the Way, My Friends, Scar Tissue, Soul to Squeeze, and some others I can't think of right now.

They have a sound that others can't match, that's what makes them different. But, this new album was pretty surprising to me, but I'm all for it.

Just got it from my local sainsbury's and i would recommend it, it's awesome, i would put it above Californication and By the way, i've only heard the first 5 songs, and even though it's hard to part eith throw away your television i think this album is great.

It's more funky, that'ssomething i had always wanted.

I'll have to give this a listen sometime soon. I'm not a huge fan of the Chili Peppers, but I enjoy most of the stuff they have put out over the years.

Juts got this a few hours ago. Standout tracks for me are Snow ((Hey Oh), Hump De Bump, Make You Feel Better and Tell Me Baby. The guitar's very much replaced Flea this time round although I must say Frusciante is amazing in almost every sense.

Got tickets to go see them at Earls Court in the summer too.

I've never been a huge fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their music is okay but I've never heard a song by them that wowed me. Dani California is an enjoyable song though.

Did you mean to say the guitar's been replaced by Flea, if so i agree, and i prefer it, Frusciante is good, but i prefer the sound of Flea.

The standout tracks for me are:

• Torture Me (Solo is amazing)
• Hump de Bump
• Storm in a Tea Cup

Brilliant album, best of their last three including this one.

I meant what I said that the guitar has replaced Flea this time. The bass doesn't seem to be such an integral part of the Chili Peppers sound anymore. Sure, there are a few tracks with ripping basslines but many Flea takes a backseat to John.

After another few listens through I really like Hard To Concentrate. I'm not to sure why though. It's not anything too special just very melodic, bordering on anthem territory.

John Frusciante is god. This is one of the few albums I'll actually buy, just because the Chili Peppers are that awesome.

I'm going to buy tickets this weekend for their concert in October in Atlanta cool.gif

I thought it was much better than their two most recent albums, and bought the thing yesterday.

(That is, I listened to it, and decided I liked it enough to buy, instead of using up more backup CD's for music ...)

Damnit! They're coming about two cities away, but I'm broke and can't afford tickets. Oh well, I'm definitely buying this album. I love funky Chili Peppers (actually, I love most RHCP songs, but their funky songs were the best).
