@Bonsai: Absolutly wonderful. Great modelling and texturing you did there! smile.gif

@Bumper: w00t! Your model looks so beautiful! wow.gif

@DieselGT: Interesting for sure, I wonder how many BHP would have the GT version in reallife if it would be possible tounge.gif

@Irloading: Very smooth there, looks very sexy. Ferraris are taking over the contest biggrin.gif

Keep up the great work all, beautiful models smile.gif

The above was going to be my competition car up until I threw a meshsmooth modifier on it. It now stands at close to 1 million triangles which is a little high for the competition and it hasn't got an interior or wheels and well, its a quater finished. I might see how the base model is nearing towards the end and just beef that up a bit. Take into account its my 4th car and I've never finished one before. wink.gif

There's some pictures, it includes a pic of the IRS. Looking very good though so far. Same goes for everyone else.

Will there be another compitition at all?

well, thanks for pictures, got them already, and found a cobra-everything-site (http://www.cobragarage.com/site_index.htm) with lots of pictures of cage and suspension (jeffs cobra)
i'm finished so far, already started to convert it to sanandreas, so i'd really like to know, what we should do with the models?

B-fish, making good use of the extra polys. how many u got left? also im sure the gearbox X member doesnt puncture the tranny notify.gif I would have thoght it should be resting on it with a rubber mount or summin to dampen the vibrations and the movement of the engine and gbox.

And about your "what should we do about the models?" question, if you're talking about judging, I think it'd be best to send the file itself, so we can get a look at the whole mesh, rather than snapshots of it. You may want to ask 92F about that though.

i'd also have to ask in which format tounge.gif

not everyone gets to use the same program (and exporting to another format often leads to borked models XD), and not everyone is geared up to place it into dff and aim it for "a release" (it aint mandatory tounge.gif )

maybe "final" ortographic and isometric (all 6 ortographic views + 4 isometric angle shots) wireframes and texture maps posted on-topic or pm'ed to the judges instead? (tis less messier and it's tried and tested to work tounge.gif )

(near every 3d prog has a poly/triangle counter, they should also take a screenshot of it~ now if anybody even "cheats" that, well~ there goes integrity)

You could put the model into a dff format without making it SA ready, this would then allow it to be transfered without the usual format changing hassles.
Just steal a dff node from one of SA's cars and put your model inside and then export it.
The textures could then just be tga and the job is done. wink.gif

I have discussed this method with someone before and think it would be a good way for exchanging files without scaling and axis problems, give it a whirl.

well... *.dff format

the only programs i know of that can use the dff exporter thingymajigger is 3dsmax or zmod (kinda leaves the xsi/lightwave/maya/blender users to still export their models to a program that can export into dff tounge.gif and program to program exporting has the off-chance of f*cking up a model [smooth groups, disconnected vertices and the like] on transit and means that the modeler would either have to give it to someone else to do it for them if in the case the modeler doesnt have a program to export into dff tounge.gif ~ unless of course my mind is still in 2005 and every 3d prog atm does have a dff exporter made for it biggrin.gif )

well, what i've just basically suggested is a Quick method that anyone could use to show the judges their model and texture maps~

simple screenshots of the model's wireframe in ortho/iso views and it's UV map~ and probably a "showoff pic" of either a render or in-game shot to show the judges~ you could easily crit on the model's mesh through it's wireframe

and assuming that every participant sends their model to the judges, that'd be a bigger burden on the judge's head (file size, file association, etc.)~ passing this to here and that, when they could just place their comments/crits on a wireshot and discuss with each other~

whar the fux are 92f? tounge.gif (or any of the judges) me also wanna know what to do with it tounge.gif i still say wireshots > send model (it's an overall less hassle)~ but that's just my opinion ahahar~

and uhh... update on my entry later tounge.gif moto_whistle.gif

Nice damage, Bonsai!

I was wondering what's up with this "original team livery" -thing... For example is it enough for Bonsai to just make it that simple?
I mean it looks all nice and stuff but isn't the two stripes and those numbers on side a bit too simple to be a "real livery"?

As for showing the final model... I guess a screencap from the modeler is the easiest and maybe the only way to do it. confused.gif

Well, I guess I could post some pic as well:
user posted image

I know it isn't a team livery of my own, this thing really exists.. But I'll make something of my own after this.

All I still gotta do:
-Proper exterior and interior mirrors. The current one is the stock Daytona one. cry.gif
-The shifter inside. No big deal.
-Maybe turn the bottom into some sort of semi-3d underbody.. Dunno, I'd have some faces left but no reference. confused.gif
-A team livery of my own.

And that's pretty much it. smile.gif

Izorz around. Not a definite, but for judging/final entry am thinking about, a few renders of the car with team livery and the judges being sent the file so they can access poly count/management/placement etc

But as I said not a definite, so I'll get back to ya'll.

@bumper: man you're mean. you cant just pull us down by showing such a semi-photo biggrin.gif
i don't know exactly what you mean by "original team livery", does that mean, that i'll have to do a weihrauch classic-racing-skin? wouldn't be no problem, this car is based on a real one ( even race number etc.) but i just love to make paintjobs, so a weihrauch-skin would be no problem (my lack of english language just drives me from one mistake into another)

Better get your head out your ass and your ass out of 2005, lightwave has a dff exporter plug in as well. It just deosn't do imports.
Besides I thought most here use Max and Zmod anyways.

@ Bonsaijodelfisch: looking nice, look forward to the weihrauch classic-racing skinned version.
Even more so to seeing it in game.

@ Bumper: Again looking good, your textures look awsome.

The competition certainly is hotting up and it's nice to hear some of these beauties will make it into SA.

well ouch then tounge.gif

sorry for being the layman (n00b) then

was just thinking in general terms so everyone who uses a 3d prog doesnt need to worry about incompatibilities and such and all the messy stuff associated with file types and importing/exporting~

i'd prefer the screenshot-version, its just easier than screwing around with formats and searching the right textures etc... 6wires+4 renders (or normal perspective shots, whatever)

i did my paintjob today, but i'm not too happy with it, just dont know how to paint this car, the original ones are only boring one color with stripes. i'd love to do something like on bumpers ferrari, but that wouldn't be too creative to steal his ideas biggrin.gif
