Basically its a competition to kick start the modding/modelling community, it seems that more people focus on converting/modifying cars for GTA these days rather than learning how to scratch model. In which case, competitions usually bring out the best in people and the aim is to bring some scratch work back to GTAForums.

Competition rules

1) Single man/woman team or 2-4 people per team (Decision is yours). Single and teams will be judged together, with the upper hand going to the single as he�s done twice the work of a 2 man team.

2) Competition will consist of building a race car (4 wheeled tarmac racing car) or a street vehicle.

3) Must have your own team name, ORIGINAL team livery (paint variations between cars are allowed).

4) 20K triangle poly limit with wheels.

5) 2 512x512 textures and one 1024x1024 for your textures, and they can not be cut up and divided into smaller texs.

6) Age/era of the car isn't really a factor, it has to be a real car that you have modified as much or as little as you want. No concepts.

7) No GTA meshes whatsoever, this is all scratch work. Any heavily modified VC/SA meshes are found and your entry will be rejected. (again this is all about scratch work)


Rewards/Prizes
Generous rewards will be handed out so take note and get modelling.

edit: using zmod2. i'm not quite sure about the rules (bloody non english speaking german), so is this car within the rules?

oops, were we allowed to use old models? daym, i thought we were supposed to start today, so i guess i'm alittle bit behind. gorgeous ferrari there, love the daytona, in my opinion the most beautiful ferrari rah.gif

Well old models... It's not really that old. It's made purposely for this competition so it's no more than a ~week old and I only worked on it for less than two days. confused.gif

Anyways, Daytona's indeed are the most beautiful Ferraris made. smile.gif

EDIT: well, another question, is the car more supposed to go ingame, or more for renders? cus if it should go ingame i'd make a bodytexture which would be the 1024x1024 if not, i'd have lots of space for the rest.

I'm using the big tex for body and details, the two small ones for windows and interior. We'll see how I sort out mapping the wheels into one of those texes. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

About 12 hours work or something. Started a little early but I won't have time to work on it much so I took advantage of some free time I had during the week.

It's not the F40 I started before, as I lost that sad.gif Hence why I'm doing another.

Looking great guys, gonna be some tough compo! You model fast too!

Sex from all entries so far! I see some of the rest of you have been working away quietly too.
I've been going for about a week so far, all in, but I'll be missing the last two weeks due to exams, so it should all balance out in the end.

Nice work on the bugatti too.. Weird choice of car, but nice.

Bjiz: Ah I won't have poly problems... If I remember well (can't be arsed to switch to xp and open 3dsmax) the 430 with meshsmooth has just under 4k tris for the entire shell. I believe I'll have from 7k to 10k to spend on interior/engine/details colgate.gif

Anyway:

It was a bitch to model the rear lights, but i'm very proud of the results.

Im afraid Stefs right cran. I think it was Bonsai who had the same idea and I told him he wasnt able to enter it, so its only fair I say the same think to you. Yer gonna have to start from scratch.

Bonsai, Changing teams by adding members etc is too late to do. Thats what the two week warning was for.

Well, I asked that original question in the topic, no one said anything notify.gif It's barely had any work on it anyway.. like 12 or so hours at the most.

So does that mean i'm out?

Maybe if I add a body kit (Plus new spoiler and hood)? Because the doors, roof and that aren't much.

But, like lySdEXiA said, 12hrs is quite a while.

Im afraid changing or adding new parts wont make the difference.

You can if you want try making a new car, but because you cant enter this car does'nt mean your out. That is if you dont want to enter with a new car...

well, if i'd have been allowed to use a old model, i'd have chosen my gt500 (perhaps 4 weeks old) but now i started this cobra specially for that ( because i thought "weihrauch classic racing" is just too cool for not taking part in the competition biggrin.gif ) so it would be a very unfair advantage to use a model which you started moths ago.

hmm, i guess i post most of the updates, but i'm just so quick now confused.gif engine ready and in car, turboscoop (called like that? it has nothing to da with a turbo ph34r.gif ) textured enginebay and underbody, and finally added some shizzel like fuelcap, small lights, emblems etc...

bonsaj, i think our car could look a lot better even if you render it properly, it still looks a bit dodgy, biut i can't figure why, the model itself seems smooth...
