You cant download it, as that would be illegal.

If he has purchased the game, he is well within his legal rights to rip them to his computer and even burn it to toss into CD player if he so desires. As long as he's not distributing the files.

Correct, it only becomes illegal if he distributes them to the public. The songs of the disc. arn't encripted like they are in VC and SA so all you have to do is copy them off the audio disc.

OK, ignoring all the spam that's filled this topic ...

On GTA3 for Windows, the play disk has each radio station on it as a wave file. I think that the MSX radio station is names MSX.wav . I've heard that it's that wat in the PS2 disk as well.

He then called that matter closed and subsequently asked if he could rip it to the hard drive. Which was said before you posted that, so what would you think? You'd think just as everybody else thought.

@rav0: The format on the PS2 disc is different, but there are readily available converters for it on the internet.

The audio in Vice City is encrypted? Maybe on the PC version, but not on the PS2 discs. I used MFAudio to convert radio stations (and ped chatter, and background whatnots) to .WAV and .mp3. It works the same way on files from both discs. You can't just copy a .wav file and burn a CD ... they're .VB files.

Long time no see, old pal smile.gif They're not encrypted at all. For the PC versions, the radio stations are available as WAV's for GTA3 and a proprietary format for VC. There's convertors out there. I think the poster just meant that they're proprietary, not encrypted.

Vice City radio is stored as MP3, but it's encrypted/encoded, to make ripping more difficult than it was in GTA3. The MP3 can be retrieved from the file using a converter though.

Just because they're in ADF format doesn't make them encrypted. I haven't installed VC in a long time, but I was under the impression you could still just copy the radio stations off the CD directly (or you could use the install option to put the files on your HD). Perhaps I'm wrong though tounge.gif .

Not that it bothers me anyhow - I converted blank mp3s into ADF files using Raptor's converter to save HD space for myself wink.gif .

You're correct.

That's not what the thread is about though. This thread is about getting the radio station to listen to without the game (in a radio, software media player etc). The ADFs are not an audio format. They contain the MP3 audio in them. Converters have been built that understand ADFs and can recreate the MP3 that went into them.

A proprietary format does not denote encryption. They're not MP3's, but with a different extension. It's a different audio format altogether for which there are already convertors for.

oaTSY, it's your lucky day mate! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Here are the links to both MsXs!!! ENJOY!!! smile.gif

MsX FM (from GTA III) download link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ckjh6l

MsX 98 FM (from GTA:LCS) download link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2tqcr5

PS: MsX FM from GTA3 is a .wav file when you download it. You need to convert it to an .mp3 file so it can be playable on iTunes and many other programs and also your iPod and mp3 Players. MsX 98 however is an .mp3 file when you download it tounge.gif

and also don't say I copied this stuff from the YouTube video, cause the video is mine. wink.gif

MSX FM plays the Drum & Bass Compilation Moving Shadow 1.01 (mixed by Timecode). If you want the FULL set just search for this compilation.
