This is great-- I get an email yesterday from this guy at take two interactive-- and he asked me to contact him by phone.. I called him up and he told me (based on my work here), that since I'm considered something of a VC expert, they asked me to be among of a handful of people beta testing VC stories due out later this year--- they are providing me with a copy of the game and a PSP-- they emailed me a contract to sign swearing to not copy the game-- After I return it to them, at some point in the next few weeks, they will be Fedexing me the PSP and disk-- I'm just supposed to play it and note any problems I encounter-- they are providing me a strategy guide if I need it.... This is wesome....

My sentiments exactly. If Spuds isn't pulling our leg, then somebody else is pulling his. However, I've received an email from R* privately in the past myself and there's no doubt that Spuds is a leader in the field. However, knowing your stuff about VC means nothing compared to being adept at a game on a platform we don't even know he owns. Overall, I call shenanigans.

Guess I should have thought of a more believable one... was hoping to suck in a couple of people before I was called on it..

Would have been cool though. The contact from Rockstar is certainly believable.

@ Dem - just out of interest, how did you determine the email was genuine? That's cool getting emailed from Rockstar. Did they notice you from these forums or what?

/me is interested.

I've been playing Vice City every single day since October 29th 2002, 10:03 AM. (Yeah, I missed school to buy it.) I dont consider myself to know everything about vc, but I decorated the map and I can drive with my eyes closed if I know which safehouse I got off in. (I have witnesses, lol.) In my opinion, VC is by far the best game there is for the PS2. SA doesn't even come close. It's just a nostalgia that hits me and everytime I talk about it, I want to play it. Like now.

I'll only get the PSP for VCS if it releases. Rockstar's still has a ton of GTA's to come.

Although it seems possible Rockstar may release another GTA for the PSP (and a possible port to PS2) if the PS3 continues to be delayed, I echo Dem's call of shenanigans unless of course I hear it from the horse named Rockstar's mouth. smile.gif

Yes, but he doesn't answer to anything I call him though.

In all seriousness, I think a VCS would rock. But I'm not sure it would come to be.

I knew it was a joke because of a simple fact: beta testers of any of the GTA games really sucked, if Rockstar should used people who really know about games, those GTA shouldn't come out so buggy.
Besides, beta testers can't even tell people they are beta testers until the game comes out.

GTA's aren't buggy that I've seen. Considering there's a whole 3D world, I'm not sure how much beta testers could catch anyways. Though I know PS2 players are kind enough to bug test it for us PC'ers wink.gif

I don't know much about Tank at all - so I doubt Rockstar do. I'm sure Rockstar would contact Spuds well before they would even think about Tank. Tank's administrative status here at GTAF means nothing in terms of his apparent knowledge of GTA games. Spuds demonstrates his own publically.

Tank was invited to play Vice City about 15 days prior to release, if ya didnt know. He was also invited to beta test it 6 months before it was released.

Oh. Well, good on him.

Still, saying that just because Tank wasn't offered a testing position means Spuds certainly wouldn't have been is kinda, well, brave.

Yeah, but of course no offense was meant anyways.

I'd like to think I'd be on a short list of testers... but I doubt I am... a bad joke has grown legs..
