Current Version: Beta 1.1

This is something I started work on right from the release of SAPC. However multiple things went wrong and I never got around to fixing it. But at last, here it is!

San Andreas Messenger is a simple program to run alongside an msn client such as Windows Messenger.
Along with the d3d9.dll which loads up along with San Andreas, enables received messages from MSN can be displayed ingame, along with other information such as Sign-In notifications.
Not only that, but you can send messages to other users from ingame.

It was originally built off an old program I wrote, Vice Messenger, which I never released here because there were compatibility issues with the 101 .ocx's it used. However, this version is completely rewritten, and only needs the msn control which you should get upon installation of MSN.

Please leave comments and any constructive critisism, I'm not gonna be offended by your opinions. Also, I've only managed to test this on Windows Messenger, so if you could please report how it works with other versions.

Nice, I'm going to try it right now =)

Edit: I just remembered my SA has been acting up, so I'm reinstalling it right now. Once it's done I'll try it.

Should be very handy, and a great idea to boot. Usually I'm reduced to running it windowed so I can do both at once, but 800x600 is like stabbing myself in the face.

EDIT: Whenever I try to add a quickname, it claims that the "sytnax out of range" or something like that. Proper syntax though, straight from the readme. Also, it crashes whenever I minimize sad.gif

I'll have another look at that code handling stuff today, it was just ripped from Vice Messenger, I assumed it'd work OK with this.

I think that's to do with text being drawn when the window is not in focus. Should be pretty trivial to fix.

Also, I was testing with Trix and discovered that if the message goes off the screen, it breaks the buffer and it all ends up on one line way off the screen. The max text limit would be different for different resolutions, but it's gonna have to be set to a certain limit.

  • The commands such as /add and /del should now work.
  • Alt+tab bug should be fixed.
  • Message limit to help prevent text going off the screen.
Same link as before, see first post.
Please let me know how it works wink.gif

I accidently still had this dll in the MTA folder when I tried running MTA, and it just crashed upon startup, so they aren't compatible. Also, GTARumble uses d3d9.dll as well so that's impossible to get working with this.

I use MSN Messenger so will this not work with it? Only Windows Messenger? Or did I do it wrong.

Nicey nice! Will this be easy to maintain as MSN updates its software? Also, do you have plans of making one for AIM, etc?

This is to do with it needing a control hidden in msmsgs.exe (Windows Messenger), so if you don't have Windows Messenger installed, it wont work.

Simimarly related to the above, I'm thinking that it will only work with Windows Messenger. If I can find another way of hooking the data tramsmitted to and from MSN, no matter what client used, then it will work with all versions. Until then, the answer is unfortunately no.
