I don't see how they can start a new car show, unless they do it on another channel other than BBC. Doesn't seem possible to make one on another channel that features in all countries like BBC and still remains relevant.

It's possible they have a "do not compete" clause in their contract.

Sky might look into having them. They can easily redo a top gear format.

Sources at Sky have told gossip website Popbitch that despite Clarkson's close relationship with the Murdoch empire, he won't find a home on the network.

The website says: "Sources at Sky say despite its closeness to the Murdoch empire (column in the Sun; friend of Rebekah Brooks) they'd have some problems offering him a deal. Legal problems."

It goes on to say that Sky could face legal problems if they hired Clarkson - who was sacked after punching producer Oisin Tymon as part of a tirade of abuse - after the network sacked Andy Gray and Richard Keys for their "unacceptable and offensive behaviour".

Popbitch claims the pair's legal teams could revisit their case should Clarkson be hired, making Sky's position tricky.

Here's a picture of the Indestructible Hilux going some place unknown... Storage perhaps?

The BBC shot themselves on the foot with this decision. Jeremy, James, and Richard should go on ITV or Channel 4.

Like I said, they probably can't. They most certainly have a "do not compete" clause in their contracts.

They will probably have to wait a few years before they have a chance at making another Top Gear like show.

I doubt it though. It would be a tough process.

The History Channel must be quaking in their boots about their latest acquisition, much of the Fifth Gear team must be on the shortlist for poaching.

Not that they'll take many of them, but the BBC will be looking for a tried and tested presenter to build a solid foundation.

Poor Stig, his three friends reduced to a mere untouchable, unreachable reflection in his visor.

Damn, I'll definitely miss Top Gear, such a sad month for gearheads like me (and you guys). The last time we see TG together and the last time we see Paul Walker on screen. Definitely sad.

At least their annual world tour is still going ahead as planned for now (here in SA anyway), but the event will now be called "Clarkson, Hammond and May Live" because they can't use any BBC branding or content anymore, which includes The Stig. They have separate contracts with BBC Worldwide which run until September.

I just watched the last episode of Top Gear to air. Very sad knowing that they ended by arguing over trucks and not the P1, 918, and LaFerrari...

Edit: Nevermind! I have one more episode to go! But still... it's gonna be sad

So umm... I just found this in my Facebook feed.

http://www.theladbib...-motoring-world

Apparently Jezza wrote this in his column in the Sunday Times

I have lost my baby but I shall create another. I don't know who the other parent will be or what the baby will look like, but I cannot sit around any more organising my photograph album.  Let's stop being silly and pick up the pieces and start again ... I just know I'm going to do another car show.

On the other hand however, here's what the major broadcasters have to say:

It is unclear whether there are any channels currently in discussion with Clarkson about a new motoring show. Sky said it was definitely not speaking to Jeremy Clarkson about any content, while both ITV and Channel 4 also confirmed they had no plans to work with Clarkson.

Fleshes the whole thing out alittle better.

Apparently May has said that he wouldn't work with a "surrogate" replacement for Clarkson because he said it would be "lame".

I say, air the remaining material as three episodes.  Possibly without the studio and hosts, or maybe a single host without an audience introducing the clips (even though that might be weird).  Maybe text on screen could replace the hosts for the introduction to the films.

Then once those episodes have aired, hang their Top Gear hats for good.  BBC is going to look desperate if they plan on replacing all three presenters.  And quite honestly, all things must come to an end; I just - like many here - wish it had happened differently.

To be clear amidst all this talk of us 'quitting' or not: there's nothing for me to 'quit'. Not about to quit my mates anyway.

This is starting to get confusing now. Some sources are saying Jeremy has been sacked and will never return to TG/BBC, whereas other sources are pointing towards the chance of Top Gear continuing with James, Jeremy & Richard.

However the BBC should just air the remaining material, regardless of TG's status. Concerning JC wanting to start a new motoring show, it would be extremely difficiult, seeing as many major broadcasters have no plans to work with him.

I think Netflix has expressed interest. Which could be the best option right now. I mean, worldwide, most people watching top gear are doing it on the internet anyway.
