last I heard, they were only up to 256. but it's about time we git something better. just wait a while so it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. Besides, who needs that much video memory? My dad's old computer ran all the GTA series smoothly with a paltry 8mb. And the draw distance wasnt at the lowest level. Most people (who arnt gamers) can get away with 8mb or less. I know at where I work, the fastest computers, which are emachines, carry only 1mb of dedicated Vram for the intigrated gfx card, and that is plenty.

All these cards have 512MBs of memory:

The card you posted has a different purpose other than gaming.

I doubt that any games make use of 512MB video card memory. 256MB is more than sufficient, even 128MB is.

What type of RAM we're talking also has a say in this comparison, though. Some types are faster than others, and I reckon the core has a bigger influence on the performance of the given card.

You do know that this card is not a card for gamers, right?
It's for 3D graphics and animation, for use with programs like 3DStudioMaX and CAD programs and so on.
That is why it cost so much and why it needs the 512MB

Yeah, that right there shows that it is not the fastest connectivity. There are Radeons that are 512 and less in price.

I draw amateur blueprints with it. In other words, I design buildings and houses, in an amateur level.

The comparison in speed between the AGP and PCI-E bus comes roughly to 10/12ths of sweet f*ck all.

Bus speed is not currently - and has rarely ever been - a bottleneck in performance.
