I would like to get the maps for Gta 1, any takers?

I know there was a version of liberty but was where was other maps too?

I would want to try and convert this into our GTA: SOL mod somehow..

And should there be a convertion like this at all? Good idea or not?

GTA1 had Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City. The maps are a lot different to the modern versions. There is a PDF of them here.

The original landscape system was based on large cubes about the size of big cars. The side textures of buildings are extremely stretched so that the detail could be still be seen with the top-down view the game had. The pavements are at the same level as the roads, the walls have no thickness, there landscape surfaces are all totally flat with no window frames, doorways or anything like that. They would be rubbish in a proper 3D environment, imho.

They suit the GTA1/2 top-down view and the cartoon-like feel, but they wouldn't suit the third-person view and realistic feel of the modern editions.
