Opinions for the next release

In the next release, there are quite a few things which need deciding upon. I think the best way to do that is to get your opinions:
  1. Admin chat
    What style should it be?
    Currently it looks something like this


  2. Ammu-nations
    What weapons should be for sale?
    What prices should the weapons be?

    I don't think customisable weapons/weapon prices will make it into this release, although they may be feasable for other releases

  3. Pay n sprays
    For this release the door and the visible damage is not likely to be synced, would you still want pay n sprays to be included?
    If they were to be included, how much should they cost?

  4. Other stuff
    Is there anything else that annoys you, or you would want improved?
    Any relatively simple new features?

    Don't go too crazy with this, we want to get it released sometime soon tounge.gif

A question on ammunations: why won't they be fully synced? Have you attempted this? They both sound relatively simple to syncronize, it should be nothing more then making them INI entries and calling a few opcodes when they're received with provided parameters.

And the pay-n-sprays: it's not too big of a problem if the visible damage isn't synced. If you're syncing vehicle health (I'm sure you are), then pay-n-spray should already be partially synced; players will see your vehicle smoking, you drive into pay-n-spray, and come out not smoking. Thats sync enough if you ask me.

Suggestion: more INI entries! Simple ones, too. Starting hour/minute, starting weather, having the geometry interfeering with the nametags optional, maybe add an armour parameter to the player class? I'd be more then happy to help.

AWESOME to see you'll be including Ammunation's and Pay'n'Spray's in the next release.

1. Server admin text looks fine but I would look into other games and see how it's done just in case they have a nicer way. smile.gif

2. Considering there will be six weapon slots to choose from at Ammunation like in single player, I would choose these:
- Ingram
- MP5
- M4
- Stubby
- M60
- Molotovs (or grenades if molotov's still cause instability)

I chose them because they are not controversial (no spas or flamethrower), and they are widely diverse. To determine the weapon prices we would need to know how much money players will make, but the cost should increase as you go down the list (not counting molotovs).

3. I think Pay'n'Spray's should be included, but only as long everyone on the server sees the vehicle as damage-free after you're done getting it sprayed. It should cost less than half the money you get for a kill, maybe less than 1/4.

4. Customizable rate of fire for driveby's and sea sparrows/hunters would be a nice added feature.

Also I would like simple, objective-based games like CTF and destroy the enemy vehicle, or just checkpoint races, but I know that's unlikely to happen. tounge.gif

How's about making the game able to be modded without the CRCcantload /data/default.ide thing and also make a Myriad Islands version for this

    The Admin chats looks okay, along its different from the rest of the chat meaning it stands out, so you know its the admin.

  2. Ammu-Nations
    To have this working you need to sync.. the players money, & means of earning it.
    Whats wrong with pickups? (am not saying sync'd ammu-nation isn't cool)

  3. Pay n sprays
    Pay N Spray i believe is not necessary.

  4. Other stuff
    One thing i would like is the balance of weapons, cos at the moment there a little over powered.
thats all ;p

pay n spray dont bother me altho it would be a welcome addon
and if ya could make it so its easy to run a script along side the program like what falcon did that would be cool
then we can run manhunt mode and everyone could make their own rpg
as far as amunation is concerned i do think the weps available and the prices should be controlable in the server ini

other than adding to it i dont see the the point in altering any other aspect of the game

if ya manage to do it as i think ya can then im gonna have an rpg to get mone and everyone starts with just a pistol and if ya wonna drivebye or use a spaz yav got to buy them at a premium

i think that will stop all the drivebye freaks

anyway good work team cant wait to see what ya manage to do biggrin.gif

Isn't that one of the main ideas behind adding rcon talk? sigh.gif

It would certainly be possible with the mIRC rcon DLL; there are already echo scripts and scripts like !kick, !ban etc running with mIRC that can be used ingame, they just can't echo anything back in game at present.

So yeah, basically once we have any kind of admin talk, scripts such as RPG and stuff will be perfectly possible tounge.gif

o Dont fall down when hit by shotgun (this will get you sticked to the bottom, which will lead to your dead)
o DriveBy Damage massively lowered
o Spawnkill protection (maybe some seconds after spawn invulnerable?)
o less Teams in Vanilla INI
o (Sniper sync)
o Teamchat
------------ Update
o M60 removed or fixed (when you hold right mouse button you shoot like 10x times faster...)
o Vote Kick
o fixing Teamkill (when you driveby you are still able to kill your teammates)

Don't balance the weapons and can you synch the get in the car and get out of the car animations? smile.gif

I'm sure Kye said that sync getting in/out of the car animations caused a lot of problems

It would be very neat to have snipers/launchers synched, although I'm not sure whether it's possible or not. I remember seeing something likely in the early stages of Gta:C, but it has never been released and hasn't been included in vc-mp also.

Is it possible?

If so, I'd like to add that as a suggestion.

As far as I know, enter/exit car animations cause problems, especially with "dead" cars (cars that have blown up, but not on someone else's game, therefore they can still get in it).

Rocket launcher and snipers cause a problem, because there is no animation for them (you never see someone fire a sniper or rocket launcher in single player). So although replacement animations can be used, it looks weird and doesn't help stability.


As far as suggestions go..

Pay 'n' Spray isn't really needed if there are enough cars on the server, but it would be a nice extra even if it isn't used much, seen as the whole idea of multiplayer GTA is Singe Player with other people.

Ammunation; yes, because the game is fine with no weapon pickups, but it would be nice to have a way to get extra weapons.

Whatever you do, don't, please, for the love of god, reduce the effect drive-by's have. It just isn't needed.

I would say add my pickup mod, but until I get remote picking up done, and gather together all the changes I've made, it's a bit hard atm. And yeah, some of Falcon's RCon things are cool.

Ooh, sync RC Baron races too if they arn't already (haven't looked at the most recent version so not sure if they're there already).

i agree with everthing u said blink.gif and the ammunation sounds good but only sell weak guns and pay 'n' spray wud be ok but people would not use it much

Important:

1. A Server Browser

2. Weaker Drive-By Shooting

3. Something that stops vehicles from floating in mid air if the co-ord isn't correct, because with helicopters this problem makes people fall over when they try to get in unless they run into the helicopter to make it move reach the ground. Maybe if gravity acted on the vehicles as soon as they spawn? Then they will fall down to the correct position and wont knock people over because they will be at the same height.

4. Ability to add more weapons, instead of just 3.

5. Make it load the cam position before it loads at the taxi place with the annoying music. Maybe just a black screen with the connection info until it loads the cam position. Its not necessarily the annoying music, it just looks abit tacky going from kaufman cabs to the modified cam position.

6. Can you try to sync more weapons? Theres some proper lethal weapons there which could be fun.

Optional Extras

1. /me command

2. If the voodoo is included in the vehicle list in the INI, it crashes your game when you spawn. Maybe the hydrolics on it could be sync'd? Who knows.

3. Sync the tank and its gun?

4. In-game admin commands (by the way, those 'set position' and 'set health' will pwn)

or a main screen built into the client where it lists server/ping/players
then this game would really come to life

Yea i read about the get in/out anim problems.
But about the sniper and the rocket launcher stuff.
njr and me suggested to kyeman that he should you rifle anim for the sniper and rl shooting anim(i dont know if he tested it in mp but it looks great in sp smile.gif ).

how about a mixture of local and remote scripts, so maybe have the essentials like login, register and possibly even stats that everyone uses built into the server and then have remote scripts for game modes, plus if people dont want to use the built in scripts, maybe have an option in the ini to turn them off

edit* the main idea behind this being the important parts of the scripts are always on if the server is, i have managed to get these 3 into the server so far, so i know that it is possible to do it

i could probably think of alot of things, but for now.. maybe a force player out of car command? for a long time i wished it would have been in MTA.. it would have come in so useful for alot of my scripts. Also, lock player in car, then vice versa, unlock them from car tounge.gif
I have no idea how easy/hard etc it is, but hey, it's a suggestions thread, and it's my suggestion smile.gif

Ok some mroe important things:

1. Add something in the INI that lets you set the name for each spawn and maybe some info about it so as you move through each skin it shows up the name and where it spawns and maybe a list of weapons? This will be highly useful and hope it gets sorted...

2. How about an extra button on the client? One to join game as usual, and one to check if server is online so people dont have to waste time loading the game only to find out the server isn't up.

3. Can you fix the bug that makes the ip/port fields change when you open/close the server? I often find the port has changed itself to the IP

erm.. when i said alot of my scripts, i was still referring to MTA.. my MTA server scripts tounge.gif

Regarding Ratt's "check if server exists" feature, would be useful, but i see a link on the site for 'Servers'? if so, then that looks promising, unless it's another manual list thingie tounge.gif

There are scripts, you can use the mIRC RCON dll and mIRC scripting. Currently simple things like echoing the chat to IRC are possible but in the next release much more will be possible.

I'll add something to put some text on the spawn screen. I'll also look into giving all the weapons to the player on spawn, so that you can scroll through and check the weapons/ammo.

These can be done with RCON scripts, I'll also make a specialised command (/cmd ping Ratt for example) an option instead of using things like "!ping Ratt"

If your going ahead with the Pay n Spray...why not try and sync the colors change also?
