Every time the person you are chatting to replies it is taken to the bottom. It's normal. Just ask the person not to write for a mo or something.

Everytime someone signs on or signs up (as in: a notification is made) or when the person chats with you then it automatically scrolls to the bottom.

"Msn suffering from retardation"
Well it is after all made by Micro$oft

Try using something else like Trillian, which you can not only chat with your MSN friends, but also your AIM, YIM, ICQ (who the hell even uses that any more) and others friends all from 1 program.

Does it just do this after a while of having the conversation window open? It happens, all you need to do is close and re-open the window.

But then he loses what he was trying to scroll up to find..

I recommend downloading and installing Messenger Plus!. It has an automatic chat logging system, so you can just open up the logged text file if you want to go back to check what was said previously.

Also, if you grab and hold the scroll-bar, and drag it up, you can usually override the automatic flicking back to the bottom of the conversation window when your contact types a message.

I didn't think that was the actual problem, though. The problem shouldn't be happening in every window, all the time. If you're not updated to the newest version (7.5.0306), you may as well try doing so (from here) and seeing if it 'cures' your problem.

I'm pretty sure there are no viruses, and whether or not you install the Sponsor Program/adware is completely optional- you can decide if you want it when you are installing the program..

QUOTE (msgplus.net)
Messenger Plus! comes with an optional sponsor program that you can decide to install or not during the setup (which is the same whether it's a new installation or an update. The question is always asked and nothing is ever selected by default). This program will show ads from time to time on your computer, will add a search bar in Internet Explorer and will also change your start page. In NO case this sponsor is mandatory or dangerous. If you don't want it, simply refuse the sponsor agreement during the setup and you will never hear about it again. If you installed the sponsor by error, just launch the uninstallation program of Messenger Plus!, choose if you want to uninstall the sponsor only or Messenger Plus! and the sponsor, follow the instructions and reboot your computer.

/me points at word 'optional'

No, it f
ucking isn't. You have to be plain damned stupid to install the optional sponsor program (the crap) without your own knowledge.
