It was mentioned in the very post before yours! A little bit of reading through that post alone would have told you that there was one available on the first page of the pinned FAQ topic. Please read about before posting next time.

Time for an update again. This is another test release for v6. This time it's a complete manual install package. To install it, simply replace all of the files in this download into your LC directory. Again like last time, you may need to tweak the gta-lc.ini file to match your setup.

So what's new with this? The first thing you may notice is the old 2D-Fix files have been completely removed. The updated files are not complete though, so you will notice some one sided models. Choofy will get to that eventually. Also, more peds have been converted (Toni, 8 Ball's prisoner, Joey in a suit, and a few more). Some of these peds are not final, but it's an improvement getting them in there as they are.

We also fixed the major bugs with the last release (it was all in the handling configuration). This should also fix the SSV IE crash.

So what's left to do before the full v6 is uploaded? First the new 2D-fix must be finalized before any official release is made. I'd also like to get most if not all of the cutscene actors converted. Hopefully Choofy's still willing to work on those issues. Then I need to get in touch with CTM to make a new installer. And I still have to fix Sayonara Salvatore (I did completely recode the mission even though it didn't help). Then there's a few small bugs that have to be fixed (the 747s in the ground, the subway, etc.)

You can download the new v6 test from here. (80.2 MB)

And it looks like I'm a bit of an idiot. I didn't realize that I didn't update the main.scm until the upload was half way done. So you'll need to grab the new code from here.

Please let me know if there are any issues. Even if they're previously reported. It doesn't hurt to be redundant.

sounds great craig, maybe you should put the download links of the first page too, so people dont have to search for it when newbies start flooding this thread with help posts. i havent done anything the last few days but play LC, im snowed in my house. whatsthat.gif
i will test that right away. did the freeway bug get fixed for it? or was it fixed already? good to see choofy getting his work done. its about time somebody actually finnished something they said they would do. it seems as though he took off 6 or so bugs from the BUGS topic. so he might be fixing those too. nice to see a "dooer" not a "talker".

This is not the official release of v6 though, more an external alpha of it. The download on the front page is the most recent public version, this one is still having it's bug fixes done. When it's released it will be updated on the front page.

You can download the latest public release version (Beta2 v5b) from the first post of this topic - I used link 1 to get my copy and it worked fine.

Alternatively, you can use the Show Config utility to change the heli height -> Open it -> Advanced -> Game parameters -> Maps -> and change it there.

To get yourself the latest version of the launcher, see this post made by Hammer83 - it has download links.

redboyslim, do you think you can type a little slower? some of your posts have taken a while to figure out.
i think that the best thing for you to do is to download v5b. Support for that has even ended, so why would we answer questions for something so out of date?

QuestionAnswer
The installer won't work for me - can I mod VC manually? In a word, no. You'd have to do all of the work that the LC team has done over the past 2 years yourself. You're best of waiting for the release of v6, which will include a manual install function as well as an automatic one.
You can actually install the game manually by using the following method (NOTE - some users still experience game-play problems after installing this way for unknown reasons - use at your own risk):
-Run the installer until it freezes
-Click "Start", "Run" and type %temp% - then press Enter
-In a folder beginning with pdk-, there should be a file named "gtalc_setup.7z" (if you can't find it, search the directory for it and it'll appear). Copy this file to some other place on your hard drive (e.g. your Desktop)
-Close the installer using Ctrl+Alt+Del -> "End Task". The original gtalc_setup.7z will be deleted
-Open gtalc_setup.7z in the new location using WinRAR or similar decompression software, or use 7-Zip
-The files that you will see are essentially the files that are copied across in the installation process.
Note that by installing in this manner, you will not have the Show Config utility added to your LC directory. To get it, right click in your LC directory and select New -> Shortcut. Make the target location "C:\<your LC directory>\gta-lc.exe -showconfig".

A little bit of looking goes a long way redboyslim - that was taken out of the first post of the FAQ topic.

I know that you are probably very keen to get your copy of LC working, but please don't double post, post in multiple topics, and start new ones.

but yes, i do think it is possible to mod VC on your own, if you have the skills and all the free time in the world. but asking a question like "the installer wont work for me, can i mod vc manually?", i mean. use commen sense, its not like coping every gta3 file into the vc folder, i did like that part.

Of course it's possible, but it isn't practical. Even in the unlikely event that a person who possessed all the skills required to make LC on their own existed, it would take them at least 10 years! That's a fair amount of time, not to mention human factors like decline in motivation, boredom, etc. So, it's still no - not possible.

lol.gif I guess you are right.
Only a complete Freak-Of-Nature would be able to have all those skills, or at least somebody with WAY too much time and has absolutly no friends. Boredom? Tell me about it! I get bored just playing LC sometimes. If I had all those skills I would go right up to Rockstar and demand a job, there is no way they could say no. biggrin.gif

Not to burst your bubble there Thomas, but Rockstar wouldn't hire you. They wouldn't even hire a guy like me (or another more accomplished modder on these forums).

Hey, I just wanted to say how cool the last update is, especially all those new converted actors! So far I've seen 8-Ball in prison suit, Toni Cipriani, Mick (from Sex club7), Chunky Lee Chong, Joey in suit and Lips Forelli. (Luigi still has his bad leg, though.) Great work guys! And don't bother with the moving mouths thing.

Stop spamming everywhere up with this. We don't know when it will be out, there is no set date. There is a test version in one of the topics but it is a test version so don't complain if it doesn't work.

Ok, new rule to be added to list of forum rules - I'm pretty sure it's in the GTAForums rules, but maybe not; it's now added to the specific LC one - please don't post the same thing in multiple topics. Actually, wait, it is there - spamming - please don't. The double post is fine though - it's not within a few hours of the original.

Yes, the Australian version is working. No, the first post isn't being updated at this stage - see this post for the reason why. You can get the latest launcher from this post.

Hey, it looks like that v6test doesn't have the latest collision files that I gave out back in the old collision discussion topic. And the occlusion has my old NW and not the new one.

You can get the latest launcher from this post.

are you are talking about when i posted that in another topic? i wasnt sure if it should have gone there or here. after reading through the post again i thought i should go there... then here... then i forgot to edit the other post suicidal.gif
ill just edit the post here and leave the post there since the answer to the post is in that topic. again sorry blush.gif

EDIT by Ben - Nevermind, we all make mistakes. But it's been happening increasingly recently, and it needs to be stopped - this isn't the only example. You, however, are forgiven because I respect you wink.gif ! Don't do it again though. devil.gif biggrin.gif

I want to install my GTA3 sound files, i have my gta3 CD, but the installer wont let me choose the CD, it only allows me to choose a folder, and when i choose a folder it says its an invalid CD rom

(The OK button wont turn black if im highlighted over a CD)

Im on Win2k

edit: I just installed it without audio and copied them over to the AudioLC folder manually, so dnt wry about it, but it could potentially be a problem for more nooby people.

Strange - is your CD-ROM drive "D"? I think that the v5b installer is such that it the only location it recognises a CD drive is D:, and if yours isn't D then you have to do it manually. The new installer should fix this problem for v6 (whenever the official public release of it is), but I'm glad that you were able to figure it out yourself.

That wouldn't be a problem, actually. I installed v5b successfully at one point. My computer's main hard drive has two partitions on it, and the one I use (the first doesn't get used at all, stupidly enough) is labeled D:\. CD drive is E.

My DVD drives are R: and W: and the installer worked for me.
