Well, I just noticed that the sky in GTA Liberty City Stories seems to be blue more often than the way it looked in GTA3.

But why not save yourself the time and post up the ones  he posted up, then use GTA3: PC for later screenshots?

If he's anything like me he'll want to have control over how this is presented. If he does them all himself on PC then they will be better, all have a similar look and work better as a set.
I originally took mine to post on here, but when I saw that contributions weren't expected I decided to just put a link to them instead.

@da gta master - Wouldn't it be better to take a PC screen capture or use fraps (or whatever it's called) instead of using a camera?

@ Hope - not too sure about the sky being blue more often. Rockstar probably just thought that a blue sky looked best in their publicity shots. I know when I took mine I was waiting for the rain/fog/night to go away, so even those aren't a fair representation.

Has anyone looked at that picture of Savatore talking to Toni in a room? I don't think this room features in GTAIII. It looks more like the office seen in 'The Introduction' DVD when the Sindaccos first approach Leone about the casino. From what I've heard this will probably be a 'walk-in' interior (like the Leone Mansion) rather than one you enter by stepping into a marker. When I remember where I put the soundtrack I'll take a shot

If I was going to continue getting screens from the PS2 I was going to get a better camera but this depends on whever I can get good screens from the PC version. The only problem is that all the saves on the PC are only in the first island, so I wont be able to get all the screens because some are in Staunton unless someone has a downlad save that is either on second or third island. So for now im going to continue with PS2 screens.

@Carpertdweller: What did you use to take your PS2 screens?

A 5 year old digital camera my dad bought from QVC. A tripod I got free with an old camcorder about 10 years ago and then I crop them in photoshop.
The tripod comes in really handy because then I only have to worry about what's going on on-screen. i have the game brightness setting up full, trails turned off and I usually take at least 5 pictures for each one I want so that I can choose the best. I also try to try to remove all other light sources other than the TV, so no lights on, no flash and I try to do it when it's dark outside.
I'm also happy to use cheats (both button & AR Max).
I found it impossible to get this shot without them.

Here I've got the game set up to include no pedestrians or vehicles. The only vehicles available here are the ones seen which I had spawn in my Portland and Staunton safehouse garages. This is right in the middle of Triad territory and a busy junction for traffic. It didn't take me long to realise I would be better off using cheats.

These pics can't compare with a good PC screen cap, but I think they're alright considering the equipment I'm using.

Hmm thats a good point about using cheats, Ill also ask my dad if he can try to get a good digital camera (at least one that holds more than 20 pictures. Ill try to put better screens on tomorow. If I cant on the PS2 Ill use my PC version.

Adios

In GTA3 it is Luigis sex club 7, but in LCS it is Paulies Revue bar or whatever. The actual building hasnt changed, only the signs have, apart from that nothing has changed. The car in LCS looks a bit like a bobcat but I cant be sure but even from the front of the car, the detail on cars has changed a lot from GTA3.

comparison wont be working properly

Judging by the images on this site: here that can only be a Yardie Lobo.

So either there is a non-gang related Lobo, Toni Stole it, or the Red light district is not affiliated with anyone except posssibly Yardies.

Edit: I got the picture of Salvatore's office from 'The Introduction' and added it to my pics here.

Edit again: I might be wrong on this but I was looking at the picture of the bridge in Shoreside Vale. Is the Cochrane Dam missing?

That is indeed the Yardie Lobo I guess that is another confirmed vehicle in GTA:LCS and that must mean that the Yardies will be making an apperance in GTA:LCS. another gang confirmed, cool.

I would like to see if Phil's army barracks are still there but no pic has confirmed it yet. The advantage with Liberty City is that everyone knows their way around. I have had San Andreas since release and I still don't know my way around any of the cities.

Im sure that LCS will be an exact replica of the Ps2 and Pc version of Gta3. I think the main change will be the missions and characters in the game.

The main difference is the addition of fire escapes.

@carpet: Thanks for the comparisons. Those shots look good. Is that guy in Chinatown? Or the Red Light District?

Something tells me in LCS they will have some... er, intersting things that we didn't see in GTAIII. I'm hoping.

I'm hoping too.

It's Chinatown in the pedestrians only part. If the guy went to the right he would come out at the Punk Noodles bar. If he went left (through the ornate entrance seen at the end of the street) and looked left, he would see the street that we've seen Toni riding the motorcycle.

I've been looking at my comparisons - Here - and these are my conclusions so far.
None of these are fact. Just my opinion.
  • There is very little difference to most of Liberty City. There have been some slight adjustments to trees and the addition of fire escapes, but it has been left largely untouched. There have been slight changes around the St. Marks area and by the Triad Fish Factory.
  • The early assumption that there would be snow in Liberty has no real evidence to prove it.
  • The Litter (Zombie Elvis Newspapers) that cover the streets in 2001 are missing from the LCS shots.
  • The Callahan Bridge is being built at some point in the game. This is probably what prevents you moving on to Staunton Island at the beginning.
  • The pedestrians have changed.
  • The police livery has changed.
  • Cars include - Esperanto, Stallion, Yankee, Lobo, Moonbeam, Blista, Police, Enforcer.
  • Motorcycles can now be ridden around Liberty City. These seems to include - Freeway and PCJ-600.
  • Weapons seem to include - Pistol, Tec-9, Shotgun, AK-47, PSG-1
  • Toni can be seen in at least 3 completely different sets of clothes. I don't know if he can change independent items of clothing or if he chooses between complete outfits like in Vice City.
  • The Sex Club 7 is now called Paulie's Revue Bar. The back door has changed from green to blue, and now features a sliding spyhole.
  • It looks likely to me that Salvatore's office interior (from 'The Introduction' DVD) is included. Based on what we've heard this is either a 'walk-in' interior or for cutscenes only.
  • It's possible that some alteration has occured by the Cochrane Dam, but this may just be my imagination.
  • I've only seen 2 gangs - one look exactly like the Triads from GTAIII, the other are dark haired and wear dark blue jump/track suits. The Lobo car also hints at the inclusion of the Yardies.
  • 8-Ball's yard in Portland is there in '98.

Wonderful comparisions. So much thought. Thank you. Those were an enjoyable read, and I agree on all of them.

I know you have said there aren't many changes to Liberty City, but don't forget about the SSV expansion. Granted, we have no screenshots or the like, but this will have to be an entirely new area and new terrain.

I assume they are. I mean, look how little we know of the game. And since when has it been GTA tradition to not have any new surprises? I'm sure we'll get something. I have a feeling.

I'm hoping SSV is improved greatly. I never spent much time there, really. Besides trying to find that elusive Ice Cream truck... (Yeah, we all remember that... good times, good times... sigh.gif )
