|Need you to save me a spot, next to you and the lord|
Don't know when I'm coming, but keep checking the door
But while I'm here, knock on wood
I'll make sure that your kids remember who their father was
And Val is good, (aight!) understood how real niggaz move
We don't part, but ya gonna always have family in New York (Liberty City)
Believe that (yeah!), where you at, you can see that
We dogs for life and to death and I mean that!
i realise its disgustingly late after he died to post this, but i figured that even though youll see very rare posts from me, this is by far the most important post ill ever make. Like others, i cant lie and say i knew you personally... but i knew your map mods. i've been a gta fan since the first grand theft auto came out. i played it endlessly back then. then, gta3 made my dream come true by combining shooting, vehicles, and a massive in such an innovative way. I then enjoyed and beat vice city on the ps2 long before it was available to pc, and if anyone deserved an earlier pc release, it would be someone who was as big a dedicated modder as Odie.
I'm a mapper myself, but not for vice city. this way, i can relate to you, but only to a certain degree, since gta3 and vice city are clearly not as modder-friendly as other games for which the sdks are released almost at once wtih the game itself... i map for the obsolete engine, the newer source engine, and the widely used quake 3 engine. i encounter many modders every day, all cought up in their own reality, pursuing their own goals, which in a way dont meet up with what everyone else may want. many map modders map for themselves, but you mapped for us all. dedicating your heart to consider exactly what the gta community would want from you, and you put it out there. I find myself to be really critical in general, especially when it comes to mods and maps, i'd always pick out some detail that i wouldnt like. not yours. besides being a mapper, im also a dedicated gta stunter, althouhg i rarely put out videos... but after playing your beach park for vice city, i came back to gta3 for your stunt park, and played endlessly on it, even though i'd usually stick to bikes.
The next stunt video i make will be a tribute dedicated soley to you and your contributions, not necessarily to my life as a gamer, but to all these people who have been posting here for more than two months after steve's announcement. To any fellow stunters who come across this thread and share my feelings and would like to be a part of this, please contact me: [email protected]
your thoughts about gta modding have now become a reality. you were and always will be made for modding gta. there's no doubt about it.
rest in peace.
