I'm still struggling to grasp what is so intriguing about Grove & Ballas being based off which of the uninteresting Bloods & Crips, and why there's 3 pages of this hype.

By chattering about them, you're not bringing forth anything that isn't already known. Also, Vagos being based off the Latin Kings isn't news either.

Considering Unused Gang 9 & 10 look identical to the Aztecas, I wonder who they're based off.

Internet Banger here to put in my two-cents.
The Ballas and GSF have different elements of each gang in them, which makes them Bloods and Crips.

Examples:
- The Ballas have the following sets, Kilo Trays, Rollin Heights, and the Front Yard's. The Front Yard's are based on
the Front Hood Crips in Compton, Kilo Trays are based on the 8-Trays, a Crip gang, and the Rollin Heights are based
on the Rollin 60s, a Crip gang.

- GSF has the following sets, Seville Blvd. Families and the Temple Drive families, which it has not been identified
which set these are based off of, but with logic, I consider them to be Bloods sets. And furthermore, the GSF sets
beef with each other, so they are not a whole gang, just like the actual Crips, who when they are not killing
Bloods, Brims or Pirus, they also focus on killing in their own gang, if their not from the same set.

- This never really did play out as an actual factor, but it might as well be put in as well. Sweet, the founder of GSF
is still alive, one of the Bloods founders is still alive, T Rodgers. Whilst both of the Crips founders, Raymond Washington,
and Stanley Tookie Williams are both dead.

- Also, with the mention of colors, there is a Piru/Bloods set in Compton that wears green, as well as red (CHRISTMAS)
And then to square it out, there is a Crips set in Watts Los Angeles, that wears purple, they are notably one of the largest,
and first Crips sets to start.

(P.S. if you have not guessed already, I want to be a street gang historian when I turn 18)

Grove street is actually a mix of both. Same with the Ballas.

For Instance sometimes the grove street members will say "Cuz". like the one with the dreds if he see some ballers he'll sometimes say "Cover me Cuz" & they say loc a lot too.

& with the Ballas they we're started in the "1970s" just like the bloods were. Crips started in the late 60s.

Green is worn both by Crips too, Not Just bloods. theirs alot of crip gangs that wear green, like Shot Gun Crips & Paybacc Crips in Gardena, Kelly Park Compton Crips, East Side Hustler Crip etc...

All in All they are a mix of both.

Since everything is a parody of something real life in GTA, the Grove Street and the Balla gangs are obviously imitations of the two most notorious gangs in LA, the Bloods and the Crips. But which is which?

Its the bloodz...look it up on youtube because Grove Street is a real gang in Atlant Georgia...

A 'gangsta' band calling themselves Grove Street doesn't qualify as a "Gang" and that it was created after GTA: San Andreas was published doesn't help.

I'd say they're both crips o.o

The crip gangs all split apart anyway somewhere in the late 1980s and San Andreas is set in 1993 so that could be a reasonable explanation.

With no conclusive answers here, I'm going to say Grove & Ballas are whichever of the Bloods & Crips you want them to be. Now can we talk about who other gangs in the game are based off? Having said that, are there any real life gangs that wear the same colors, seeing as Rifas & Aztecas wear the same bandana colors?

Grove st.are Crips cmon now ...they say "LOC" when has a blood ever said loc????next I hear somebody talking about lime Street in Compton this has nothing to do with Lime
The Ballers are BLOODS/PIRUS of course because their colors remind you of burgundy/maroon color and its starts With Da "B" p.s (Lime street isn't the only gang that wears green in LA there are other gangs on the blue side that actually wears green like 83 gangsters, waterGate & shotgun crips well all gardenas gangs wear green so

. Yeah right a gang in Atlanta Georgia has nothing to do with California are you kidding me why would they even consider that I am a Los Angeles gang member and I can tell you that we do not look up to other states gangbanging wise there just on a lower-level.

It's fascinating how Rifas wear suspenders (do any real life gangs wear them) whereas many real life gangs tend to have their pants dangle below their waist.

I don't know if someone's said this before, but since R* North is Scottish and based off Edinburgh they just took the colours of the two local football clubs, the Hibernian FC (green) and Hearts (purple).

So they're both just generic LA gangs.

Generic Mofia.  Look up the History of Gambling in Nevada if you want to assign arbitrary mobs to them.

To one of the posters above, we never say "cuzz", we say "loc" though which comes from Spanish word Loco. Ballas say loc too so it's not gang specific in Los Santos. Families never been "cuzz" or "cousins", we say "Relative", gatherings are "Family reunions", and in Swahili and prison it's "Jamas" for Families. "Cuzz", "playboy" or "player" is for Ballas. LOC is universal and ask Lil Weasel, Official General or anybody on this board who has followed my post for years, I've been known to say "loc" but you NEVER heard me say "cuzz".

Lets not forget that each ped on the game is based on a real person living in fictional cities based entirely on real cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, redneck county, blueberry facres...

Oh yeah, nearly every element in the game is based on stuff you find in real life... But theres a reason R* give everything a fake name... to break any thought of a connection to something in real life.

The Grove is clearly not Asian, but I thought I should mention this actual Green Gang. I'll also mention the Red Gang which was their main rival.

There was a gang that was named Green Gang, but they were (are?) a gang based in south-east Asia, mainly China. There was a gang called Red Gang too, but they were defeated by the Green Gang around 1920. Both gangs were part of the Triads. The Green Gang's prime time was around 1920, but the Triads still exists so maybe the Green Gang still exists in one form or another.

The Red Gang allied with the British colonial power, the Green Gang allied with the French colonial power. I don't know to what extent the Green Gang operated outside of China.

Triads: Established in the middle to late 1600s, still active.

Green Gang: Established 1726 by a group of monks at a Shaolin Monastery, it was a secret organization but not criminal. Later they began to trade opium (a legal commodity at the time), and their financial power grew and attracted businessmen. The Green Gang eventually turned criminal and corrupt, and by the 1920s they controlled most criminal activities in Shanghai. Green Gang did at some point become member of the Triads.

Red Gang: Established in the second half of the 1800s, ceased to exist around 1920. Red Gang was member of the Triads.

Well, Da Nang Boys are based on a Vietnamese Asian gang called street wankers. ( but still no one got a spoof for their actual name, casts, works. )

and you'll probably know that San Fierro triads are based on Chinese Yakuza, if we talk about rifas and aztecas, both of them are Maybe mexican cartle owner gangs on the lifetime of 80's or 90's but now, their was not seen as well in Jails.

The Sindaccos, Forellis, & Leones; who're they based off?

They are just.. um you can say imaginary gangs. but their are based on Maifa. forellis are italians and sindaccos are British / Tommy.

San Andreas's story and gangs are based from a major full scale Los Angeles gang war in 1990's.

Ballas and Grove gangs conflict are nearly same as Los Angeles nigga gangs conflict.

Damn Family, you got it all layed out. I remember in my game we started banging outside of LS in 1993. Up in Las Venturas we had Vista Park Drive Ballas, Sun Vista Ballas, Rockshore Gangster Ballas, 788 Vanderbilt Road Ballas, Rollin Heights Ballas, Temple Drive Ballas, and Front Yard Ballas. Everything except Kilo Tray was in LV. Seems like alot, but Families ran Venturas and outnumbered Ballas whereas down in Los Santos we were outnumbered by the Ballas. It was fun times driving up to Venturas in the 90's. Keep doing ya thing Relative.

yea the Rodney King riots... and it wasnt just one corrupted cop... most of the police force itself was corrupted...

as for the rifa... its somewhat true/somewhat false... in the 80s/90s there was a heavy drug scene in SF with Mexicans leading the pack, although Asians were getting into it too.. same with the black neighborhoods like Sunnydale and Hunters Point...
