Cheats are hard coded, so not likely.

You have said it right, but if I'm not mistaken, we can change that with the launcher couldn't we (That is, if they are going to be changed)?

I believe we have the ability to change cheats. But I don't know if we should remove the extra vice city ones though. Part of the beauty of this mod is so people can enjoy the extra featues of Vice City. So if someone wants to put their own car in the game without changing the code (or losing another car) they can replace the hotring racer. Then they can use that spawn code to get their new car.

But it may be nice to reinstate a proper GTA3 weapons cheat. I've been thinking about this for a little while and it all depends on how much of the exe Hammer knows by now. I'll probably talk to him about this tonight.

If you mean something else then explain further if not then try and read the last few posts.

It is possible to change the cheat strings, but whoever wants to attempt to do it will have a hard time, for example:

There are lots of trainers for VC around that bind other keys to cheats, so maybe it's possible to add other cheat strings?

However, would you be able to remove the old ones too? Or do the trainers work by when you press the key combo it "types in" the cheat code for you?

I found my alternate to the "swapping engine sounds" in the SOUNDS file. OK, in the EXE, there are sound effects assigned to certain positions. Such as hearing the music nearby the Portland hideout, and hearing proper sounds (Esperanto needs a Bus horn, not Coach). That way, it sounds GTA3 genuine.

How does the In-game intro (Cat shooting you, then arrested) look compared to GTA3's intro? Close to it, not as close, etc.?

I downloaded this Lear Jet http://www.gta.mods4...cat.php?cid=132
and it replaces the dodo at the airport but I dont understand in the readme how to do the next bit after replacing the txts and dffs.

--- Load your vehicles.col file into GTA Vice City Collision Editor.
(Download this if you don't have it)
Then delete the rcbaron.col file and import the new rcbaron.col file.
Then click save and close the collision editor.

{There isnt an rcbaron.col file in the package so what am I supposed to do?}

--- Delete you old handling and default ide line and put my for more spead and better wheals. {How do I do this?)

Handling line :

RCBARON 2500.0 1.0 10.0 1.2 0.0 1.0 0.0 75 0.65 0.9 0.5 1 200.0 16.0 4 P 5.0 0.45 0 30.0 5.0 0.1 0.30 0.50 25000 1.25 -0.17 0.5 0.0 48000 0 1

$ RCBARON 0.0080 0.60 -0.00018 0.006 0.10 0.0025 -0.007 0.0002 0.0080 0.005 0.100 1.0 0.998 0.997 0.990 0.0 200.0 0.0

IDE line :

194, rcbaron, rcbaron, car, RCBARON, DODO, null, ignore, 10, 7, 0 , 250, 0.55

Its a cool mod though and I prefer it alot to the stupid clipped dodo

If there's no rcbaron in the vehicles.col, then your game would have crashed long ago.

WTF is up with gtaforums? It deleted my post three times!

No theres no rcbaron.col to replace it...

On a different note can you name these people? It has been while since I played GTA 3 and I never managed to connect them with anyone in game anyway:

You absolutely need to have a purchased copy of Vice City for this mod to work. A copy of GTA3 is also recommended (and it's necessary to get all of the audio). And all this mod does is convert GTA3 to Vice City's engine. Meaning you can play GTA3 with helicopters and motorcycles. We are not attempting to put the Vice City map into this game.

This forum is designed so a thread exists for almost any kind of topic. So please don't start new threads like this. If you're not sure where to post, you can always use GENERAL GTA:LC CHAT. Usually we lock topics like this, but I'm going to leave it here long enough for you to see it. Then I'll merge it with the GENERAL GTA:LC CHAT thread.

I'm still not sure who that dude in the brown coat is. It may just be a mafia guy like spaceeinstein said. But he's shown a lot in the GTA3 advertising, and he doesn't look like any character in the game.

What else has to be changed in the game for that to work? Does the exe look in the gta3maps folder? Or is it another file that tells it to look there? And what's the advantage of changing that?

the gta_vc.dat tells the game where the maps are and there are no advantages realy apart from the fact that it makes map mod a bit easyer to install.

Sure it can be done. You could add a line to the car spawn code (in the main.scm) to set the color to whatever you want.

No, I don't believe that is possible with LithJoe's trainer.

TO DO LIST:

-Equip the Army with M-16s
-Fix engine/horn sounds to what they were in GTA3
-Damage from falls accurate to GTA3 (if possible)
-code missions at a steady pace, and fix bugs in game

That's all I can think of for now...

Vice City is absolutely required. GTA3 is recommened for the audio files. And the most recent public version is the beta 1 files. But we're within a few weeks of releasing the beta 2 files.
