QUOTE (bloodyskies @ Sep 6 2005, 03:12)
<slightly off topic> Unofficial PC ports *might* be possible (e.g. via a mod for GTA:LC), and I'd like to believe that R* will recognise a market for PS2, XBox and PC versions 6 months after release (I know that market exists, and surely the conversion wouldn't take much development time given the Vice City engine is more than capable, with the exception of downloadable content)

IGN have said LCS doesn't use Renderware, but an engine specifically built for the PSP. Might make porting it difficult; you'd be writing an entirely new game (again) for conversion to Renderware.

Besides which, you're looking at a game that doesn't have many of the features we take for granted in a 'full-size' (as in, for home console or PC) game. It would look like a fairly pointless release next to San Andreas.

<just because>
QUOTE (viniciusdcs)
The DS is not capable of holding a game like GTALCS its too much for the crappy DS, but the PSP is capable

There's plenty of DS owners who would probably disagree with your evaluation of the console being 'crappy', I think.
</just because>

Good work on the FAQ. Since it's a fairly rarified release, you shouldn't have such an attack of the n00bs around here like we saw for San Andreas. I'm certain most mothers of the 13-year-olds smacktards aren't going to shell out for a PSP biggrin.gif

Ok I know the DS is not crappy its just that the PSP is better anyways the DS still is not capable of holding LCS.

Damn Brown, this FAQ needs some major updates... confused.gif

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
When will GTA:LCS be released for the PSP?
Rockstar has stated that the game will be slated for release in October, after the release of the PSP in Europe. The official release day has not been confirmed, however.

It's been confirmed for the US: October 25th, 2005.

Europe and Australia: Sometime between October 28th and early November.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
When and where does GTA:LCS take place?
As mentioned before, GTA:LCS takes place in Liberty City, from the first 3-D installment of the series for the Playstation 2. The city, according to Rockstar, is basically unchanged, except for updates to some of the buildings and an enlargement of Shoreside Vale (the 3rd island in GTAIII). New landmarks will also be added. Obviously, the graphics will get a makeover as well. The game period is set in the year 1998.

To learn more about the changes in 1998's Liberty City, look at this website.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Are there any screenshots?
Rockstar has not released any official screenshots yet. Many magazines, including a Spanish one, Play2Mania, as seen here have 'leaked' screenshots. They clearly show Toni on bikes, some other vehicles, and some parts of the city.
Note: The actual word translation of a similar German article can be found here at Barbaneez's GTAC site.

The official website was opened on September 9th, 2005 and heavily updated on September 30th. It shows a lot of background info on some characters, screenshots, videos and audio clips.

http://www.rockstarg...rtycitystories/

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Is there any information on vehicles?
All of the cars from GTAIII will be in the game, along with all the bikes from GTA: Vice City. We do know the cars will be revamped, getting much needed updates for the time period. Reflections will be improved too. Car modification shops, such as those in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, are unconfirmed. Motorcycles have been clearly confirmed and will be included in the game. Actual bicycles are still an unknown at this point, but possible.

Some new cars (and some from San Andreas such as the Clover) will be available. Check out the Official Vehicle Topic for more information.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
What about airplanes? Helicopters?
Unfortuantely, Rockstar confirmed air transportation vehicles will not be included in the game. Yes, you heard me. No planes or helicopters. You have to remember that for air vehicles, city overheads and textures would have had to been created, and the PSP is already being pushed to its limits with the basic game itself.

Helicopters and planes ARE in the game. However, we don't know yet if you'll be able to pilot them.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Will the Liberty City layout be changed?
Rockstar has said that the city will basically remained unchanged. Recent rumors, according to this thread, is that Shoreside Vale, the third island in Liberty City, will be expanded and curl up on top of Stanton Island, the second island you gain access to in GTAIII. The unfinished tunnels in GTAIII may have a meaning after all. What will be included in this landscape is still largely unknown, but a Casino owned by the Leones is an extreme possibility.

This question should be integrated with the "When and where does GTA:LCS take place?" question...

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Will there be a new island?
No. As in the previous question, Shoreside Vale will be enlarged as it curves up over Stanton. No new island will exist.

Again, this question should be integrated with "When and where does GTA:LCS take place?"...

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Will Toni be able to change clothes?
Yes. According to what weve heard so far and seen in screenshots, Toni will be able to change his clothes during the game.

The clothing system will be similar to Vice City's. Toni will be able to change outfits on his apartment (and maybe at other safehouses as well). We don't know yet if you'll be able to buy new outfits as in San Andreas.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
Will there be some sort of multiplayer?
Dan Houser himself, of Rockstar, stated to OPS2 Magazine:
QUOTE
OPS2:"What about multiplayer?
Dan Houser: "We're still obsessed with the single player at this point."

So, the existence (or non-existance) of Multiplayer has not been confirmed up until now. We will see an existence of multiplayer in some future GTA game, but it may not be Liberty City Stories.

Multiplayer HAS BEEN CONFIRMED in LCS. More information can be found at the official website.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
What about the soundtrack?
Very little is known about music options for in-game play. [ Rumor ] According to a German gaming magazine, MP3 playback from the PSP will be supported. This infers radio stations will be included in the game.

Radio stations ARE included in the game. Many radio stations from GTA3 are making a return with new (old? tounge.gif ) music such as Lips 106, Double Cleff FM, Head Radio and Rise FM. A new radio station called the Electron Zone Radio has been confirmed as well.

QUOTE (Brown_Streak_RR @ Jun 21 2005, 15:42)
How far is the game from completion?
At this point, [ Rumor ] Australian sources have said the game is 80% complete, and we are still a long way off from any release date. Whether this is true or not has yet to be determined.

The game seems to be pretty much completed by now, Rockstar might be making the final touches and testing.

I know guys, I know.

As Rob said, this past week I have been having ISP problems, and having been able to get on to update the FAQ, or even access GTAF.

@PK: Thanks. Much appreciated. Will go into the update.

And, yes, I'm currently re-vamping the FAQ. Don't worry. colgate.gif

Sorry about the delay. Enitrely my fault.

EDIT: I updated it now with PK's information, and a few things I learned. I will be working on it more so to get it all caught up. Thanks again for your help PK. Sorry it was put off so long, but all of a sudden when I got busy there was a whole new flow of info.

Just one thing, you kind of comfirmed in the FAQ about the SSV expansion, that has not been comfirmed and I think you are putting peoples expectations too high, anyways here it goes: http://www.gtaportable.com/rumors/ Im just trying to help.

This Game looks great, but for the second time Rockstar have shafted the PC games community by releasing a new release on a Console formatt.

they do appear to have forgotten where this GTA series started and the players who got it to where it is.

I'd love to own LCS, but I refuse to pay 150 (GBP) + for a PSP to play this game.

Game = biggrin.gif
