I apologise, I did not mean rallying, I meant endurance and touring car racing. I guess I confused about the five speed manual transmission in my DS, which was built for rallying.

I am not entirely familiar with the closed circuit you mention, but the coolant system is itself not entirely closed. The container has a tiny hole to relieve pressure. Which is necessarily with regular water, as it would otherwise expand too much. The coolant fluid should eventually find itself in a situation where no fluid is relieved, because under high pressure, it does not need to relieve itself.

In all my experience, encountering this particular engine, I have not come across problems with it. And I have even heard stories about how this engine has been treated completely inappropriately, but it still kept going. A brief period with a high coolant temperature should be of little concern. It was not as if the dial remained at this level for more than a minute or two.

No problem. I don't know which enduring or touring car races you're talking about but PSA seems to only have used and use 4-cylinder engines at least for the latter.

With closed circuit I mean the relevant parts leading to and from the engine and the engine itself. If vapor gets created somewhere in there something is wrong. I know that the cooler itself has a spillway or what ever it's called to vent vapor or release water.

Still nothing I'd try out. Besides that you made it sound like it was running like that for a longer period of time.

Well, the engine was built for the purpose, but it never really saw that much time on the track, because money. PSA wanted to do more racing in the mid-90s while designing the engine, but then the spreadsheet guys came out and said no. After the engine had been built. Probably why they also shoved it into the Xantia, since that was the intention initially.

I apologise for giving you the wrong impression, because almost immediately after it crept that far up, the full cooling system was kicking in and doing its best to cool down the engine, and in about two minutes later, the dial was below 90. It obviously only managed to get this far due to the heat around it. Additionally, I am not sure how precise the dial actually is.

I think this has something to do with certain regulations of the various racing series and not so much with the engine itself. Besides that 4-cylinders are presumably better when it comes to fuel consumption.

Yeah, you really made it sound like you drove it like that for the whole time you were there. I wonder why the system even allowed it to get that hot anyways. If it has no problems with the cooling under that conditions it should have kicked in much earlier (at ~110°C max) in my opinion. My 306 would have gone "full blow" long before that already.

Because you where at it quite quick, it should indeed be good. However chances are you did cook rubber gaskets such as those for the valve covers which can start leaking a little earlyer then usual.

In the scenario that the engine actually took damage - although I have not seen evidence to suggest that yet (it behaves normally, and it hasn't lost coolant fluid, and checking the oil with the stick, it looked fine, but the true reveal might first come during an oil change) - I know of a guy who has a few of these engines stored in a warehouse. He and his mates have scrapping some of these cars, but always saving the engine. So far, they have not had a need to put an engine in another car.

Washed the Clio. Strangely enough, it didn't start to rain after two hours and birds didn't sh*t on it yet.

It just reached 195000 Kilometers, but it's still doing well. Even if we had to fix the cilinder head since it was leaking some stuff, I think it was oil. I don't really know how that stuff works. A bit expensive to fix that, but I guess it's something that can happen if you're unlucky.

Tomorrow I'll post a pic of the interior, I've never posted it. Just in case someone is wondering what's the interior like in a Clio Dynamique.

Clio

In Greek mythology, Clio (/ˈkli.oʊ/ or, more rarely, /ˈklaɪ.oʊ/; Greek: Κλειώ, Kleiṓ; "made famous" or "to make famous"), also spelled Kleio, is the muse of history, or in a few mythological accounts, the muse of lyre playing. Like all the muses, she is a daughter of Zeus and the Titaness Mnemosyne. Along with her sisters, she was considered to dwell at either Mount Helicon or Mount Parnassos. Other common locations for the Muses were Pieria in Thessaly, near to Mount Olympus. She had one son, Hyacinth, with one of several kings, in various myths - with Pierus or with king Oebalus of Sparta, or with king Amyclas, progenitor of the people of Amyclae, dwellers about Sparta. Some sources say she was also the mother of Hymenaios. Other accounts credit her as the mother of Linus, a poet who was buried at Argos, although Linus has a number of differing parents depending upon the account, including several accounts in which he is the son of Clio's sisters Urania or Calliope.

All of the Muses were considered to be the best practitioners of their fields, and any mortal challenging them in their sphere was destined to be defeated. They were often associated with Apollo. The most common number of the Muses is 9, but the number is not always consistent in earlier mythologies. Hesiod is usually considered to have set their number, names, and spheres of interest in his poem Theogony.

Clio, sometimes referred to as "the Proclaimer", is often represented with an open scroll of parchment scroll or a set of tablets. The name is etymologically derived from the Greek root κλέω/κλείω (meaning "to recount," "to make famous," or "to celebrate").

In her capacity as "the proclaimer, glorifier and celebrator of history, great deeds and accomplishments," Clio is the namesake of various modern brands, including the Clio Awards for excellence in advertising. The Cleo of Alpha Chi society at Trinity College is named after the muse. 'Clio' also represents history in some coined words in academic usage: cliometrics, cliodynamics.

I might have posted a picture before, but I got a new to me used car and I don't remember.

The red car is a 1993 Corvette it is a project car. It has a bad transmission, but it will get fixed when I can afford it.
The white car is a 2001 Corvette.

Yeah, Clio Squad!

Here's the interior of my parents' Clio. Quite different from Plage's. Mid tier vs Top tier, less powerful vs most powerful of the 3rd series.

No cruise control, no start and stop, manual a/c, but it got the gps navigation.

The Zoe sounds fun but they need to fix the range because it's not that good at the moment.

It will be repainted. I'm not sure if I'm going to repaint it the factory color, a darker red, or a shade of pink I really like. I have a good size list of things I need to do. I need to repair the wiring, and replace a lot of the interior. Because of the engine swap I need to make custom A/C lines, and adapt a wiper motor to fit the new space. The rear bumper cover need to be replaced, and that's just what I can think of right now.

And final for today, the S4, waiting for My Buddy to deliver My new rims and tyres, then drive it to the workshop, never worked on Audis before more the driven, so Will be fun to see What we are gonna do about it.

Restomod or restore to original, opinion on that

The rims I Will put on are the RS4 -07 ( generation I'm not sure) Gun metal-painted :D

UrS4 very underated. The AAN 2.2T is one of the all time greatest motors Audi has ever made. And B7 Ti RS4 wheels will look great on it. I assume replicas? I can't see 255/35/19 fitting on a C4 properly.

For wheels I'd go D2 S8 Avus wheels:

Audi%20(OEM)-Avus%20(S8)-1370838705.jpg

19" B7 RS4s won't fit, the 18" replicas normally weigh a metric f*ckton.

Oh man... that is a pain... ghansk for letning me know, as I said.. I have no club about Audis.
Thought it was was the same fitment :/

I was just looking at if the wheelbolt-pattern was the same... :( wonder if I might cut some metal away, i was having wet dreams of making the car wider (50 mm on each sida at the rear)

The tyres are 255(for the front) and 275 (the the rear)

Oh well, gonna do some math on this, if I give up anyone want RS4-rims? New Pirelli tyres lol XD

Thats a great looking color in person, nice choice!

I finally got tired of using my broken phone camera and got a decent little point & shoot since my DSLR died a while ago, and decided to snap a couple pics these last few days. Hard to tell but Ifinally got my Zender lip and spoiler riser painted in a mix of Ford & Chrysler black metallic paint so they really do sparkle nicely in the sun, then installed on the car. Got a couple more exterior visual changes hopefully coming this month mostly in the form of lighting all around... but I'll leave it at that for now..  ;)

Its awesome coz I just got these wheel caps :)

Honestly this colour grew on me, when I got the car I kept thinking about saving up so i could do the typical "murdered out" e36 coupe.

Now im just gonna get amber indicators and also get my hands on a M3 GT wing without risers.m1uL4TG.jpg

can't believe i used to drive around without caps lol
