I'm always been a big Capri fan. At least in V6 form. Shame we only got the Mk 1 here in the states as far as proper Euro Capris go. Seen this Mk I racing at the hillclimb last year. Cologne with a big cam and webers. It was fast for a vintage racer.

My dad had a 2.8 Injection Special in Essex white when he was younger (round about when I was born actually). Replaced it with a Sierra Saphire Cosworth which he had until I was about 9.

My grandfather had a MK3 Capri with a 2.3 V6 engine. I think it was the Capri S model. I'd say Capri was the only "muscle car" Europe can be proud of.

My Dad's first car was a black Capri, it would have either been a MKI or MKII. His was a bad example though, really rotten. It caught fire on the drive once and had to be extinguished by a neighbour.

Nice, one of my best mates had an '85 Capri in High school/college. It was a total pimpmobile. I drove it a few times, it was like being in the cockpit of a fighter plane. All round dials and a huge hood in front of it that you could barely see from the drivers seat. Class.

My dad had a Capri in the late 80s. I remember my mum didn't like it at all.

Excuse me for bumping in, usually just stalk the place, but I had to jump in on the mention of Ford Capri's. f*cking love those cars. My dad is a huge Capri fan, in fact I spent the majority of my childhood being shipped around to Capri Shows and all that jazz. I remember sitting in the drivers seat looking at all the people coming around to look. Hell, my dad even had one of those f*cking capri jackets & hats he wore all of the time. There's nothing like throwing up in the back of one of those cars when its speeding down the road. Or the fact you can't hear jack sh*t when sat in the back.

He had to sell his pride and joy a long time ago when my parents divorced and he didn't have a garage to store it in. A few years ago now he showed me a picture in the Capri magazine of his car being in a photo - like the main spread. He got a call from the guy who sold it on saying it was going to be in. Still a shame he ever got rid of it. Wish I could find the picture but I don't remember the number plate.

Definitely my life goal is to own one and restore it. Still see a few driving around my area but a lot of them have rust problems which isn't a surprise since they were known for it. Still would love to own one.

I don't think my dad did. Most Americans probably didn't. We only got the proper German ones in the 70's (with a Mercury badge on them). After that, we just got rebadged Fox body stangs and something that was basically a fwd Miata.

^ dat Firebird is sexy.

I'm hoping to get a car soon, since I'm getting the license in a few months. I'd like to import some older American car. Maybe a mid-size, like the Oldsmobile Cutlass.

For your first car you're planning on importing? And with a big engine?

If you don't have enough cash then forget about an old american car for your first car... Besides, an old american car should only be a second car or a hobby car, because driving it everyday is only suitable when you live in the US.

Nope, I'll buy first one in my country. Having the imported one is for when I have some more cash. I know these things are more expensive to maintain. However, like I said, I was thinking about buying a mid-size (even if I'd rather a full size), which would be easier to park and kinda cheaper respecting the gas.

Eh, most of them are either in my house or my buddies trade me out. In total, 6. Bonneville I sold, bought a truck. Traded the truck for the Fiero, traded the Fiero to my buddy for the 70 Impala Wagon, traded the wagon to my buddies Dad for a 69 AMC Ambassador, which I traded my uncle for to get this new Suburban.

Well, you're going to need to spend some good money, or get crafty. You can't beat a 3" body lift and a used set of 35s for the price, but I know the body lift I got is only for gas trucks. First reason for that that I can see is the gap in the fan shroud and the 6.5s already having overheating problems. The only other thing I can think of that might be a problem is turbo clearance. If it can't be made to work and work right, the only other option is most likely a $1200+ suspension lift.

It has the updated cooling system but the turbo clearance won't be an issue from what I can tell. I'll take a look at some forums for examples, there ain't a lot of love, but I can find it.
