I've got a question regarding forum mods. Do they still apply even if the person has become a global mod? Because many of the forum mods are now global mods.

Thanks YeTi

It's not so much a position of power (when you're a global moderator) as it is a virtual directory. If you've got problems, you've got a short list of the people to talk to in that forum.

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me. So why are there still global mods acting as forum mods?

I assume that you're talking about led-bys right?

If so, being made a Global mod doesn't mean that you've been "fired" from moderating a specific forum. It just means that you can use the good judgement you've shown as a ledby of that forum, to help out in other areas as well.

Ye but why not let them concentrate on being a full time global mod and let others have a go at forum moderating.

Being a led-by simply shows that the member in question has a level of experience and expertise in that particular forum. Just because a led-by happens to be a global mod doesn't mean they can't continue their good work in specific forums.

Why not let others have a go at being a led-by? They do. But only when a member has shown consistant help in a specific forum.

Plenty of global mods here have an area in which they are best in, so for example, most of the led-bys in the modding forums are now global mods or administrators, but because most of the work they do is about the modding forums, by still having them listed as led-bys there means they get sent the reports for that forum rather than them going to a global mod who may know absolutely nothing about modding. It's basically just a way of making sure certain reports about 'specialised areas' of GTAForums go to people who will actually be able to help out.

Its like me, I am the gang mod for all the gang area's

But i spend most of the time modding for the whole board. If someone needs somthing done in the gang scene, i am the first contact. unless i am offline then one of the other mods deal with it.

Barguast does a great job so he was promoted to global moderator to more effectively manage his rather considerable block of the board. Someone who is capable of moderating such a broad area needs to have access to more measures of control.

Yes he does. He handles the n00b's very well. He's also very polite and respectful to everyone.
