Often when a topic is closed the mod ore the admin just says that there already are another topic about it... but nothing more... the we (the members of this forum) have to use 10 min seartching an chekin many topics befor we find the one we seartch...

But sometimes the mod's and admin's are kind to place a link... It would be cool if this was like this if a topic got closed then there must be a link to the other topic...

Generally that's what should happen. Unless the original topic in question is pinned in the same forum, I think it's fair enough to expect a mod to provide a link to a previous topic.

That said, make sure to read adamcs' guide to searching and use the search function to it's full potential. It isn't too hard to located previous topics when you know how to search properly.

If someone has already mentioned in the thread the correct link to the topic. then i will just lock it. or if the topic is already in the same forum, i would just lock it to

But when none of the above apply. we do try and put links into the closing thread.
But somtimes we have sooooooo many reported posts, we just dont have the time.

The search is there for members to use not the staff, we aren't here as data retrieval units so don't expect us to always do the searching for you. We do sometimes take the time to find a certain topic but we can't do it every time what with the amount of reports we get.

Also it wouldn't take 10 minutes if you use the search system properly which is explained in Adam's pinned topic guide.

Seriously guy, if it takes you 10 minutes, then you're doing it wrong. For instance, if you'd check your spelling when you are "seartching an chekin many topics befor we find the one we seartch" you might have better results.

And even if you do it correctly and it does take a few minutes, so what? You expect them to find everything for you? The site is here so you have a place to find the information, not so you can be waited on hand and foot. When they (Mods/Admins/Mxyzptlk lol.) leave the forwarding link they do so as a courtesy, they don't have to. Not only are they busy, but they shouldn't always leave links as it would set a bad example.

Go into the SA forums and do a search on "Where is the" (Or "were iz da" for that matter.) and see how many utterly useless topics have been made that shouldn't have been started in the first place. If people are too lazy or stupid to search for something then they shouldn't always get a forwarding link.

In certain cases things are hard to find, or information is difficult to pick out, but if they posted forwarding links every single time then nobody would ever search for themselves, they'd just start even more grossly redundant topics and wait for someone else to search for them.

NAH... if we calculate that the forum servers are so bad that only every 2-3 time you get through to the page and that the only clue you get form the mod's are "threre's already a topic about that"...

The mod's or admin's already know the other topic why dont link to it?

I just think it would be a nice service to the forums users...
