This is my first attempt at creating a signature... or using Photoshop in general. So, any comments/criticism would be appreciated

Not bad for your first one. Too small IMO, needs a border, and something more to the text.

Threw a border on, and yeah, after comin back here colors are kind of fugly. Changed it a bit but I'm not sure of it. Any Suggestions on that/which one looks best so far?

@Slim: Yeah, the size is all about personal preference for me. I tend to like smaller sigs. This is more of a practice run than anything.

If you use a dark image, it will be clearer if the background is bright, so that's why I think the third one looks best so far.

Other than changing the colour, you need to remember, .jpgs are the the root of all evil. Seriously, when saving a a sig, use .gif, or better still .png, quality is so much better.

use .gif

Or not. Jpg's at higher quality with less compression don't have anything wrong with them, and are much better than gif's if the picture has more than 256 colours. If the picture has more than 256 then the image will most likely also lose quality.

So yeah for sigs like this .png or .jpg would be the best.

As you can see I've been messing around with abstract-type stuff for a while, and I posted what I came up with. So I'd love to hear what anyone has to say about them.

The first one has a nice color, and the texture is pretty nice, but there isn't enough to it for it to work as a signature.
I don't like the second one too much. I don't like the gun or it's placement.
The third one... eh.
I like the last one the best. I really like the color, and the shapes are alright. What is the shape in the upper right corner supposed to be.

Nice work for starting off. The 1st one is nice looking, but too simplistic. The others are nice, but I'd advise a font change for some of them. The neat font doesn't really fit the grunge-feel of the 3rd and 4th ones.
