3D LCD Monitor without the need for 3D glasses

Virtual Keyboard
Official website
This is a keyboard that is projected onto the space where your keyboard is with lasers and your press the keys on the surface like a real keyboard. No more dirty keyboards and no need for a keyboard that takes up space

Opinions?

ouch, 1500 for a 15 inch monitor, i dont think that would be even worth the slight 3d affect it would create. it would be interesting to see what it actually looks like though

The keyboard I've seen it or something like it before. It would make touch-typist go nuts, and on that it would take me forever to get use to for gaming

The monitor is nice, but for that much you'll need be able to wipe your a** with $20 dollar bills. Too bad Doom3 isn't on the supported games list, play that game with the lights off and 3D you'll drop a load when something really pops out at you.

I think I'd find that virtual keyboard very strange to type on.

As for that "3d" monitor, I would rather buy a normal lcd monitor and spend the difference on illegal substances to achieve that "zomg its all going maaad" feel.

The keyboard would have more use as a prop for any sci-fi movie then anthing else, would drive me crazy trying to type on that thing.

Play games on a virtual keyboard whould not be easy, you cant feel where you put you finger on the KB, but its a cool idea.

There is another "KB tech" where you put on some kind of gloves, and you just move/type like you do on a KB, exept that there is not KB.

I'd like to see that monitor in action before I spend that much on it.

As for the keyboard, I remember seeing the prototypes for it a while back as a block of wood with camera's attached to them and a projector to put the keyboard on the surface.
I think I could get used to it, but I wouldn't buy it while the unit is that big. But I could find it extremely useful for PDAs if they shrink it down to fit on one.

I saw both of these some time ago. Very cool technology. The monitor is awesome, but really isn't that useful. As for the keyboard, it could be useful to someone who desperately needs a keyboard on their palm or something, but its otherwise just new useless technology.

That keyboard doesn't seem that great. If you just rest your hand there will it register all those keys? Therefore it would suck for gaming....in Mianus.

I believe I saw the keyboard on either Call for Help or The Screen Savers a while ago. That's sweet, but I definately couldn't use that for gaming.

The 15" 3d monitor looks cool too, but definately not worth that price for such a small display and slight 3d. I'm sure price will go down though along with everything else.

The keyboard is cool, kindof useless tho, and the price is a tad high on the monitor, but i would accept one for free. Pretty awesome gaming UT2k4 on that thing.

Have you see the Zboard? A keyboard that you spends $50 for and you can then swap out the keyboard layout for extra one (at $20 each) that is idea of a game. There are a few games with swapped out keyboards, but I believe the main package includes a univerisal gaming layout that you only need to use the software to select the game to be played.
Nice idea for the "playing the game" side. The problem I see is trying to use the layout to type in the game as well.
The default Windows layout can be very useful though.

I think it was TSS but it might have been FreshGear as well. But still it was back in the good old days of TechTV.

Some Ex-techTVers hae started a podcast. Check it out. I find it to be pretty good, though slightly more techy then TechTV.

Haha that's cool, first time I've ever heard Leo Laporte curse.

EDIT: Man I'm really enjoying this show. Patrick's humor is awesome.

And you call yourself a TSS and CFH viewer wow.gif
For shame

Thanks for the TWiT link. I posted about the TROTSS in the Movies&TV Forums a while back, but I haven't been able to keep up to see if there was anything new.

Well it turns out he wasn't even cursing. He was actually just bleeping out any references to The Screen Savers to protect Kevin's job.

No he was bleeping out The Screen Savers because it's a copyrighted name.

Oh, I didn't think about that.

Why would the name still be copyrighted even though the show doesn't exist anymore? Not saying you're wrong, just wondering.

Who's The Boss? and Night Court aren't aired any more and they are still copyrighted.
Just because a show goes off the air, doens't mean it's public domain.

Besides which it takes a while for the copyright to expire, I believe it's 5-10 years is how long it last I forget exactly. And the show was only cancelled just recently, and if it is 10 years then they have ways to go yet seeing as how the show wasn't even around that long 1998-2005 (imdb.com).
