Music in the car. Probably the one place you listen to music the most. Those here who drive, I dont know about you, but Ive been getting into upgrading my car sound system alot. Need help on your system? Wanna know a good company to buy from? Want to get into car sound systems? This is for all the enthusiats who have gotten into car sound systems, or would like to. This is the topic for car sound system help, news, specs, whatever car sound systems.

I'll tell ya what I have as of now:

4- 6.5" Infinity Refrence Series speakers hooked up to a Pionner 300 Watt 4 channel amp.
2- 10" Infinity Refrence Series subwoofers hooked up to a Pheniox Gold 300Watt 2 channel amp.
All hooked up to a Pioneer 50Wattx4 head unit.

Im thinkin of droppin to 1 sub, 2 subs is pullin way too much power from a 300 watt amp. Im thinkin about upgrading to Infinity Refrence Series 12" sub, instead of 2 10s.

So, whats thumpin in YOUR trunk?

Couple of bodies. Real enthusiasts put subs under their back seats. I only have two RF Power 2s in there now, but when I get some money, I'm getting Eclipse. Eclipse is the best there is.

Stock on a Toyota Camry is pretty damn good for a '98.

When I get my Monte Carlo or Caprice it's all over though, my truck is gonna crack the concrete.

Well, my dad put over 700 watts of power in his Cadillac. It rocks. He has a couple of 10' Woofers & 2 Amps. I'll look tomorrow to see what brand they are, but his Caddy isn't here.

They have JL speakers right? Or was that VW? What are you getting that going to crack the concrete too?

And so you know, 700 watts is nothing near anything.

Anything over 500 watts is a useless waste of money anyways. If you dont blast your system every day at the max, you probably arent using all of the 500 watts. I use about 50%-75% of my 300 watt sub amp and it still pounds. The higher quality amp, the less wattage you really need to buy. Thats why brand name amps(ie. Audiobahn, Kenwood, Infinity, ect.) dont sell really any amp over 600 or 700 watts. Why do you think you see on ebay Pyle 1000 watt amps for like 55 bucks? They certaitnly deliver the power, but usally have no filiter and put out crap sound.

I don't have a car, but in my brother's Honda Civic - and no, it is not a

ricer.

He has two 10's brand Audiobahn or something like that with a 800 Watt

Ampiflier, along with the stock speakers. It sounds pretty good, with all

that bass and everything.

It's a '98, and yeah, it's frecking loud, the CD Player he has can go up to

30 Volume-wise, but even at level 12, it sounds great. It's loud enough

to be heard at least a half a block away. But if he leaves it playing at

level 16 for more than like 30 minutes, the amp overheats and just shuts

off. So, he's thinking of getting a 1,000 Watt Amp.

I have 4 Sony X-Plod speakers that sound pristine being run by a sh*tty Kenwood head unit. In the back I have a 300w Rockford Punch Series amp pushing one 250w Bazooka 12".

This kid I know in my school is selling his silver Honda Civic, year 2000, with 18 inch rims and some sort of sound system. The prize is probably too high for it though since it's priced at 13000 which you could buy a new car with. I don't know for sure though.

Ah sony, not a horrible brand. Kenwood isnt horrible for speakers and amps, but I dont know about head units. Ive never tried Bazooka.....do you have the tube or just a 12? Hows the sound from the Bazooka?

I have the actual sub in a box. It hits the low notes really well and does a good job otherwise too, kinda hard to tell because my trunk rattles so bad blush.gif . I originally had a 350w Rockford Punch Series 12" but I blew it from playing Lil Jon, I got another one and it did the same thing, so here I am with the lower wattage Bazooka. I could feel the Rockford a lot better but the Bazooka sounds better, I'm sure it has a lot to do with the power. But I'll say for my small Saturn, such a low-powered system sound very very good. Rockford makes very good products, just make sure you know what you're doing as far as power goes.

I push 1400 on a constant daily basis. Many people actauly do use more than 500 watts, people who are into car audio like me. Also people who go to comps, which I wish to do one day.

300 watts to 2 subs must really rob.

Right now I have eD 11Kv2 sub but I'm in the market for a mono. Still working on the cash for that. Then I want to put tweeters in the pillars and throw some kappas in the front doors.

Actually, I was suprsied too, but Infinity subs really pound with little power. But my 2 subs arent long to last....Im gonna go with one 12" soon enough.

@Rayo: Pushin 1400? So you keep your unit blastin all the time? I know you got 2 RFs, but what company for the amp? What speakers you got? Head unit? Some people might push 500, but there really isnt a need for it I dont think.

this topic reminded me of my friend james, when we were younger we both lived together and had a pretty good job working together at this cell phone place. anyway....

he owned a honda civic he had all pimped out, then he added this wall right behind the front seats and had to tear the back half of his car out & cut & re-weld the frame to do it, and what he did it for (if you can imagine) was to pu two 18" cerwin vega strokers in it. This was all powered by 10-12 lightning audio 1000 watt amps.

The night he got it, we went to a gas station and he bumbed it and 3 of their little plastic changable litters up on their sign fell down, and the lady next to us looked at us like she had just got into an accedent.

When this thing hit it fu*kin hurt you.
You seriously could not breath.

Im not a pussy, and when he had it turned up to 10 i had to hang my head out the window while going down the fu*kin highway. (just to breath and avoid all the preasure it caused)
