Need help partitioning

I have made a topic before, but didnt get any straight answers. Can anyone give me a link to a good program that i can use to make a new partition of my HDD and store some files there? I need help using the programs too, as i cant figure any out.

I've always thought that you can only do this when you choose to do so in installing windows. It could be just me though, you can always try google. Maybe 'Partitioning Computer' or the other way round - usually produce different results.

I use Partition Magic since it lets you partition without formatting, but it's not free.

I tried searching on Download.com and found a tool called Acronis Disk Director, but it wasnt free, so i asked my brother if he had it, and yes! Now have two disks, C: and G: smile.gif .

Just a question: When you partition your drive, do you get to choose what other drive is?

I think he wants to know if you can choose teh drive letter (eg C:\) in the partition program that you used...

You can change it but I woudnt change C to anything else after youve already se up windows.

When I posted, I meant; when you patition your drives, you have your C:\ by default (usually) and then if you patition it, you'll get another drive.. do you choose the letter of it or is it just the one that's not been used before?

It'll automatically be set to the next free drive letter, but that's easily changed within Windows.

In disk director, yes, you get to choose the drive letter smile.gif .
