Gmax to ZModeler

I usually use SketchUp to create my models, but I heard by doing that it can cause problems. I don't know how to use Gmax, so the best I could do is to make something in SketchUp, export it to Gmax, then export it to ZModeler. When I do that, it won't let me export to ZModeler. It gets this error:
file was improperly extracted, or unknown file type
Also, while I'm at it, will my plan even work?

Use the import button (bleu arrow in the picture)

And then scroll down for your filetype and the best way is to export it to 3ds file and then directly import it in zmodeler. You will need to scale it after you exported it from sketchup but thats easy in zmodler go to modify>scale and then hold the control button click on your object and type in a scale factor it depends on how big your object is just try out some factors start with 50% thats a tip.
