I have enough cash to buy one cd, what one would you recommend (only if you like these bands please)

Coldplay's last album
The Killer's Hot Fuss
The All American Rejects (remember a dude from school recommended this band)
David Bowie (don't have any of his tunes yet)
Early Rolling Stones or Who music, I have Exile on Main St. from the stones and Who's Next from the who.
Ocean Colour Scene (heard they're good)
The Inspiral Carpets
The Shins: Oh Inverted World

If you catch my drift on what music I like, then are there any other bands you recommend looking at? I'm into the Rollin Stones, the Who, Oasis, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Either The Shins or Bowie, although there are two albums I haven't heard of on there.

The Killers.

There is not a bad song on that album. Not one.

Get a 70s Bowie album, you won't be disappointed, infact, you wouldn't be disappointed with any Bowie album.

Ideally, you should buy Leitmotif by dredg, but I doubt you'll be inclined to buy it on the strength of me saying so. But it is the best album of all time. Think on.

The Verve - Urban Hymns

Good idea, I always liked their 'bittersweet symphony'. Do they have more than one album, cuz I thought they broke up a while back?

I'v heard the Killers stuff soooo much on the radio, if the other songs are good, I guess it's worth it.

Seems to be lots of Bowie fans, do you recommend a certain album? I have no clue where to start.

I absolutely adore 'Clocks', by Coldplay, are the other tracks on 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' as good?

other stuff that might be good, any opinions?:

The Mondays
Burt Bacharach
Rod Stewart (early stuff)
Kings of Leon

They have 3 other albums, but Urban Hymns gives the rest a punch in the face in comparison. It's a damn good album, s'a classic.

Even with their now staggering popularity which is putting a lot of 'cool' people off, Hot Fuss (their album) is one of my favourite CDs, a real good CD.

Parachutes is a better Coldplay album in my opinion, despite it's absence of Clocks. It's on the same par as Urban Hymns in my opinion.

This is the only one of those artists who I actually listen to, but I'm not so sure if you should try them first.. They're good, but they're a bit hit or miss and sound somewhat like a hick version of The Strokes at times. Nothing wrong with them, and I listen to my fair share of them, but not really what you're looking for I don't think.
