As you can see, the Dual Core Opterons are already availabe at a major RETAIL vendor! So I guess you can go buy one of something, very cheap at $1,500 US for a 1.8GHz. Would you like fries with that?

Noperz

1xx is single
2xx is dual
8xx is quad

Not sure why 8xx is quad instead of 4xx breadfish_by_Moto.gif

8xx is 4-8 then

I guess they figure if you can afford 4, then you can afford 8.

Evil Gnomes looks on newegg

The cheapest I found was 435... so 435*16=$6960

Yeah, that's what sucks about registered ram.

Hopefully those price points on the athlons won't stay there for long, but still, I'm not the kind to want to pay more than $400 for a chip.

Most I've paid was $250 for a new 2200+

After that, $75 for a 1700+ and $80 for a 2600+
