Yet another multiplayer modification announcement.

This mod hopes to be the first available multiplayer for San Andreas PC (if it doesn't already ship with multiplayer). I intend to do this by planning and writing some basic networking code even before the game ships.

I have a basic website setup here:
http://www.sa-mp.com
There are some very early test screenshots available and now a video of some testing under Vice City!

Vid Details:

Download/View full resolution version (320x240) 19MB DivX 5 codec.

Download/View half resolution version (160x120) 7MB DivX 5 codec.

Cheers,
Kye.

sounds cool wink.gif but shouldn't you be posting this in the editing discussion? since the mod hasn't been finished yet wink.gif

EDIT: why are you working with C, isn't C++ better(C++ is similar to C but something like an addon right?), and more advanched for multiplayer(just asking since im not a programmer) ?

By the [WIP] I meant Work In Progress. Since I'm able to do some of the testing under Vice City the development is well underway.

It's difficult to answer the second question without getting too technical.

We've seen lots of GTA multiplayer mods written in different languages:

GGM: C/(C++ ?)
GTA Sync'd: VB (+ inprocess C++?)
GTA Connection: VB (+ inprocess C++?)
GTAT: Delphi
MTA: Originally VB then C/C++/x86 asm.

They're all basically doing the same thing using different languages. So I guess it just comes down to what the programmer is comfortable with.

i think they stopped working with VB, though im not sure, they've used a lot of methods dontgetit.gif

yep, though their problem is lack of coders.

this is just an idea to go with the mod, but you should make a 2 Player LAN with peds and possibly mission access, it would be like running the 2 player on ps2 except more open

One thing you must have as a feature is the ability to have user addon's in the form of cars.

Think of all the possibilities with that one feature.........

Looks like you got a good start. cookie.gif

i would say that this is hard work, because you have to make online servers and stuff, ,but that aint the worst problem though, the worst prob is with san andreas's size! remember!san andreas is much moore vast and bigger than gta3 and vice city compared!

im really looking forward to this its gonna be amazing

a couple of ideas:

snipers should be allowed (and all weapons including bazookas)

new player models for different areas eg pilots for the airport and fbi for area 69

jets

choice to join the cops and be able to bust people

weapon trading

abilitie to control the anti aircraft guns at area 69 and the naval base

more people than a hundred to make it a true mmo
just as many as possible

gang recruiting and gang chat system!!!!!!! much like the matrix online!!!!!!

im liking the vids maybe you could release a beta for vice sometime soon
im definately backing this mod , all the way

Please note that we're not intending to release a multiplayer mod for Vice City at this stage. The whole purpose of developing a system in Vice is so that we have a basic network layer to build on when San Andreas PC arrives.

We will consider it ONLY after everything is perfected in SA.

maybe you should have checked the forum.... rolleyes.gif

Yeh i'm really interested in this SA-MP thing. For a long while we've all been doing with MTA, but maybe thats all about to change? I cant wait to see how this turns out...it could be what finishes off MTA if SA-MP is any good. Apart from the people that still wants to play MTA:VC. The vid looks great. By the looks of it, the hunter guns are sync'd even the boats. Great! Keep it going tounge.gif
