BArton made an pretty good scm already for myriad and when the second island will be released i think he will work on an much better scm file with a lot more options and missions smile.gif biggrin.gif
Im waiting for Respawns work to be released he is awesome in making new buildings it almost looks like he is a level designer of Rockstar.

What are you talking about? Im pretty sure Decay wants to know if any progress has been made on the story which was decided via contest. But AFAIK nothing had been done on integrating the story into the mod.

Lol... You're a bit unlucky biggrin.gif , and I remember that... someone did said that was going to make the caracter... but then again sadistic the contest was in the summer, most of the people, including me, don't remeber what was the storyline or the caracter appearence...

I have found the winning storyline, funnily enough, it's Sadistics

QUOTE
I grew up in New Jersey, in a small town called Parsippany. Just a few dozen little houses around the lake that gave the town its name. During the summer, you could head down to Hoffman beach, rent a sailboat, and spend all day on the lake. You could ride your bike to the Cone House, or let the big blue and white Mr. Softee truck bring the ice cream to you. I knew Mr. Softee himself (he preferred Mr. Luke in private life), and Mr. Jimmy down at the Cone House, and Matt, the life guard at the beach. I had a lot of friends.

I never understood that until mom died. I can still see their faces lined up around the living room. Handkerchiefs crumpled in their hands next to the cakes and turkeys and hams sitting in their laps. I can remember each of them putting a hand on my shoulder as they came in, their eyes full of an inarticulate empathy. They did everything they could, but dad was never the same.

He came out every morning, took the paper, then he'd tell me to go to school, and lock himself away in his room. At night, when his green nova pulled in from the driveway, he'd slam the door, hang up his helmet, bark some inarticulate order at me, and lock himself away. It took awhile for me to understand what was happening, but the clinking of empty bottles grew louder and louder every time I took out the trash. It finally hit me when I was ninteen. One morning he didn't get up, and I went into his room. The curtains were shut, and an eerie brown light glinted off of the broken glass on the floor. Dirty laundry covered the lamps, the dresser, and the mirror. And on the bed, my father, a fifty-year-old, 250lb steel worker, knealt clutching, of all things, a brazier to his face, sobbing.

I was going to look for help, but suddenly he turned around. I he started smiling in the mornings. "Mornin' Andy" he'd churp, in a bit of an immitated scottish accent. Somehow it didn't put me at ease. I grew more worried. Then on the morning of my 20th birthday, the morning I was planning to move into my own apartment across the river in Queens, I woke up to pancakes.

"Sit down, Andrew." He said, as he drizzled syrup on the stack of pancakes at my place at the table.

"You're a man now, and I want to offer you a business proposition." I popped a forkfull into my mouth. They weren't even the instant kind. Damnit, the man made pancakes!

"I want to open up a bar in Myriad." What?! What could have possibly put this idea into his head? Myriad?! We'd never even been there, I had only seen it once, looking over the water on the way to Hoboken. And on the nightly news, usually between the words 'allegedly' and 'rape.' But when I saw the grin beaming through the old man's five 'o' clock shadow, I couldn't refuse.

Pancakes, damnit!

So we set up a bar. I cashed in a few savings bonds, dad got together his savings, and we went into business. It did a modest business, but Myriad wasn't the dryest town when we moved in, and competing wasn't easy.

Then one day, I found myself riding in a black Cadillac with two well suited gentlemen, as my father begged for an extension on payment for his illegally purchased liquor license.

"Three more weeks! Please!"

"No."

"I'll throw in free drinks for a lifetime"

The suit turned to his well muscled associate, and turned down the corners of his mouth in a sort of "Not bad" expression.

"Eh." The expression was returned in kind.

"Eh." They looked back at my father.

"No."

I prepared to protest, but suddenly I found myself out on the curb. The suit peeked out at me.

"We'll keep your father comfortable 'till you get back to us. Why don't you go over there." He gestured toward a rotting tenement building. "See if a hooker dropped some change between the cushions." He leaned back into the car. "Hopefully the guy on top liked to shake things up." Then the car sped away, making sure to kick some gravel in my face on the way.

Damn pancakes!

Here, I made a quick mock-up character design... basically it's a composite character made up of several different pictures and people, which I airbrushed a lot to make the image more unique and to make it look fairly realistic (I painted almost all the hair). After that I filtered it up a little, so the photo and airbrushed components blended a little better and slaped it on a background. If you guys would like I'd be happy to get together with sadistic or whoever to work on the character.. I could draw some "actual" concept sketches, and even make one of those gta-style vector images of him. biggrin.gif

well, anyways... I'm sure to be banned soon, so sadistic (or whoever) will have to contact me off the forums to work on this... so find me on;

We could probably use some story based buildings. Not sure what buildings exactly, but I'm not a modeler anyway so... Shops alone won't do it. And I don't think we need any more skyscrapers. And some buildings that can be used for shootout missions, like large interriors with corridors, stairs and stuff. Like the "mission" buildings in GTA SA.

Me, outsider me says that Myriad Islands needs some bars(bars with Belgian beer maybe tounge.gif , beer from Belgium is great, you should try it)... then the story will actually make sense.... (btw gotta love that story, I was panicking when the storyline topic disappeared).

I feel that the story and missions is a great and important aspect of making a tight ass mod. I heard they had chosen the skin too. Why not look into the topic request and make one of those. Make it happen.

I seriously didn't get 40% of what you said.....Use some grammar man. I was wondering if the Myriad story line can involve Andrew going to diesel's scrap yard to look for his dad. When he goes inside this garage, he finds his dad, lying knocked out cold in the center. Then he sees 2 people, both on each side that demand for cash. Not knowing what to do, Andrew punches the guy steals his gun and the player is left to decide what to do.

Man...I really wanna see the story but some of the items do seem hard. The story goes perfect with Myriad. I just wonder how the character and the story will look with in completion of the mod. But hey it can happen. I'm no longer VeryUpset. I'm a much better, confident, happy person. Has anyone started to
put the story into the mod yet? blush.gif

I can prolly be @ssed to model it, after one more tokyo release, and since my myriad install is kinda skrew'd ATM.

OK, I'm better at modeling from pictures, so maybe we can have a bunch of modelers post pics of themselves, and I'll model the head after one of them. I'm looking for head-on face shots, no smiling (Thats the reason I can't use the composited pic that was done already). I may splice a few people, or change your hair.

are you saying the character I made is smiling? because not only is he not, I was going to change the lips anyways. Anyways, I was still hoping to discuss the design with you so I could fix it up to look more how you wanted him to look. Hell I can probably get some one to model him myself and I could easily make a gta styled skin... So does anyone like or have any suggestions for my character?

I'll model him. I need a brak from architecture. But I'll grab you on MSN later.

Your character isn't smiling, but it isn't a head-on shot.

I'll grab the installer soon, and get your MSN this weekend, indie.

Its so funny, me and my friend are working on 2 missions, tell me if youre interrested;
QUOTE
Mission 1 "Hostage code":
The character goes to the computer store, to the computer part, theres a guy who talks to you:

/Start Cutscene\
Guy: Ive been contacted by a guy named Mr. Pigshot, he is interested in some code from Massivesoft, under the codename Shorthorn. Go and get the code!
You: Hold on! Do i get paid for this?
Guy: 2000 dollars, now get going!
\End Cutscene/

So you go to the massivesoft building, go up the stairs, and enter the computer room.

/Start Cutscene\
You: Allright, everybody up against the wall, now(The Char shoots every pc, but one.) You! Get your ass up here!
Some guy walks to you
You: Get behind that computer, and dont try to be stupid!
He sits behind the computer
You: Burn all the source of Shorthorn on a dvd!
That guy presses some keys, and gives you the dvd.
The char shoots everybody, and suddenly an alarm goes off.
\End cutscene/
A text comes in screen: Get your ass to the pc shop, and get some clean clothes!

The player has 4 wanted stars, and must get to the pc store, and get to the back, and stay allive tounge2.gif .

Mission 2: Copycat
Same pc store, same guy in the back:
/Start Cutscene\
Guy: Ive deciphered the source, now hurry up and get this dvd to Mr Pigshot!
You: How much money do you get?
Guy: Not that its any of your business, but i get 10.000 dollar.
You: And i?
Guy: 2000, youre just a courier.(Gives the cd)

Outside: We see some swat cars drivin' to the pc store
Inside: Some Swat guy comes in and shoots your boss.
The char gets out his uzi, or a similar weapon
\End Cutscene/

8 wanted level
The player must shoot 8 swat guys entering the room.
Then he must deliver the cd to mr pigshot.

On the top of a building(I already know which, but i dont know the name suicidal.gif )
/Start cutscene\
The player delivers the cd, and gets 12.000 dollar, and the wanted level dissapears. Mr. Pigshot flies away in his heli.
\End Cutscene/

About the dvd thingie, im planning to use an unused weapon, and modifie it, so that the char can hold the dvd. The cd only does melee damage.

Tell me what you think
