Does anybody have any therioes why 'Cutting the Grass' works perfectly for me (and some others) and not at all for other people?

Did you also download the v4update.rar-package?
If you did so, i have no idea why it doesn't work.
At first I tested the mission with the main.scm of the package(at first i followed curly, then i tried taxiing him - both ways worked perfectly), then i compiled the main.scm.txt and used the new compiled one. It did work in either way.
I didn't do any magical things before or while playing, but it simply worked, so there is no reason why it shouldn't work for you if you downloaded ALL updates linked in the first post of this thread!

i didn't know there was un update, thats most likely the problem, either way i got past the mission by pulling up in front of curly with my own taxi before it got to the point where it crashed, thanks for telling about the update

I've just updated v4 version and I have question. Why when I start a new game I have:
1. 250 armor and health (thats probably for 100% completing a game, I think)
2. I have all the bosses and pay phones on the radar
3. Access to all 3 islands!!!
4. And game starts with some money in front of "Kuruma" on the repaired Callahan Bridge (isn't strange?) There isn't any intro
5. At the bottom of the screen you can see flashing XYZ of your position
It's that all some kind of bonus from programmers of GTA LC???
Anyway thanks

I forgot, you can't see any subtitles when you get to a vehicle or district (like "red light district", "PCJ 600" etc.)

But isn't that what the update has?

Unlike the previous code releases the MASTERLCDEBUG-variable has been activated in the newest SCM.
This helps the programmers to test improved code without the need of playing the same simple missions(e. g. Luigis) ever and ever again!
You could disable it, but this is not easy, as you need (besides Barton's mission builder) an improved "vicescm.ini" to compile the main.scm.txt correctly.
If you use the vicescm included with MB 1.5, the code won't be compiled correctly(I think!) and you wouldn't be able to pass "Cutting the Grass" without error!

Oops. I included the main.scm with the debug on by accident. I've uploaded the same files with the debug off (so it plays normally). The link is in the same spot (but the mirror was not updated).

If you NEED to know - NO.
Distributing GTA 3 audio radio stations is illegal. We dont make COMPLETE replacement for GTA 3 so u dont have to buy GTA 3.
Buy GTA 3 CD (as Smellton said) and use audio files from it.

Mirror for "v4update.rar" updated - so it plays normally. Same link.

I reuploaded the v4update package with everything that's been modified in the last few days. Here's the highlight of the updates:

The marker arrow is now the right blue color.
The bug in 'Cutting the Grass' should be fixed.
Also a minor bug in 'Mike Lips Last Lunch' has been fixed.
The shotgun models have been properly swapped, but the police car shotgun is still the chrome gun. Changing that is more difficult than we thought it would be. cryani.gif
The two car spawn codes are no longer available when playing the game in the standard mode. To enable them, you must play the game in debug mode.

That's all I can think of now, but there's probably more. There's still the same issues in 'Sayonara Salvatore' and 'Gone Fishing.'

The links are in the first post (and both my host and MegaVovaN's have been updated).

I'm using Beta 2 Version 4 and am also having the problem with "Cutting the Grass" crashing. I then installed the latest update 4. (used IMG tool to replace all the files, rebuilt the img, and replaced the .col map files) Now when I load any of my saved games, the game crashes. If I start a new game, the game loads fine.

Does this mean I have to do the missions before "cutting the grass" all over again, since installing the latest update? Is it normal for saved games to crash after installing the update?

If you installed the entire update, you changed the main.scm file that has all of the mission code in it. When you change the main.scm your old save games will not work.

Yeah, anytime the main.scm is changed, saves are no longer compatible. The good news is with this fix, the 'Cutting the Grass' bug has been fixed.

Thanks for the info and quick reply. smile.gif

Kudos to everyone working on this great mod. I've always liked GTA3's city much better than VC's city (too flat) but couldn't stand the poor game performance. Now I can have the best of both worlds. colgate.gif

We're currently having trouble with getting one part of the installer working. Has anybody ever successfully changed the radio stations without using a no-cd crack?

Here's what we've learned so far about the radio stations with the default gta-vc.exe file.

If you change all of the radio station paths to point to the radio stations in audioLC, the game will ask for the VC CD (even though it's in the drive).

If you change all of the radio stations EXCEPT the 0th station (WILD/HEAD) to point to the audioLC folder, the game will load fine. But no audio plays while you're in a car. You can switch between the stations but you don't hear anything.

Hey Craig, how about having two-part installer?
First, it installs everything successfully with n-cd crack, and then just overwrites no-cd with uncracked gta-vc.exe!

No, that's where we get in trouble. We cannot distribute the gta-vc.exe.

What is it about no-cd cracks that make it play the radio stations?

Can't you try get it so it thinks theres no cd for the radio stations, but still needs it to play?

And don't you get the option to install the radio stations onto your hard drive when you install, can't you just do that and overwrite those files instead of putting them in the audio_LC folder?

Here's how radio stations basically work with the standard exe. If the paths are not changed in the laumcher then the radio stations will play off of the CD. This is true even if the radio stations are installed on the hard drive. The game will still look to the CD to play them. If you change the path of the first radio station (HEAD radio) then it will ask for the CD even though it is already in the drive.

If you have a no-cd crack there are two options for getting GTA3 radio. You can either replace the VC adf files with the GTA3 ones (but keep the VC names). This solution works only if the CD is NOT in the drive. Or you change the path of the radio stations in the launcher. If that is done with the no-cd exe everything works fine even with the CD in the drive.

We need to solve this problem of the radio stations not working with the legal exe before v5 can be released.

EDIT: I just wanted to make a note about things now that SA is out for the PC. This mod is not going to stop until it's finished. We may get a little distracted by the new game for a little while, but work will still be done. And I'll try not to spend too much time playing SA until after v5 is released. But I cannot make any promises. Also, if you really want v5 and can't wait until the radio bug is fixed, PM me and I can give you the link. Just be warned that this package is almost 100 MB and it will be rereleased within a few days.

just as a thought after the v5 is released maybe after learning more about GTA:SA could be the idea of releasing a v6 for GTA:LC which should be runned on a GTA:SA engine to make Liberty City a lot more fun.

No, we're not going to start thinking about porting over to San Andreas until we finish this project. And if we ever do get to that point, we'll likely have to start from scratch. Which means it could be 2-3 years before something like GTA:LC is completely made with the San Andreas engine.

What is still left to do with GTA:LC until it reaches its final version on VC?
