Making money is harder in Vice. Just do whatever you did in 3 to make money..

The people running around are around the North Ponit Mall Area.... confused.gif I think..

There are some possibilities on how to make serious money. When you do the Dirt Ring stadium mission, you can get a $50000 grand prize if you get all the checkpoints fast under 5 minutes. You can still get $10000 for over 5 minutes instead. It will give you plenty of time to complete the checkpoint course. Secondly, in Sunshine Autos, when you do the 6th street race called VC Endurance, you can get $40000 as long as you get in 1st place. If you can find a Hunter, you'll receive excessive money when you beat a lot of Vigilante levels. Getting unlimited money is your best friend, but it will keep you busy for hours making your money to the maximum. smile.gif

Except that in GTA3, all you needed to do to make money was play it. Not to mention that you didn't really need money in GTA3...

@Ahmed: If you can do Taxi Driver consecutively, it will add up. Also, doing Vigilante in the Hunter (Brown Thunder) is an easy way to rack up cash. In order to unlock the Hunter, you need 100 hidden packages, which gives you $110,000 by itself. That's a good way to get started. Not to mention the Cone Crazy trick. All of the above are outlined in detail here.

There are plenty of ways to make money. Here are some good ways that I used to get some cash:

•Killing people-Risky because you can get a warning star, but if you need money very quickly, just kill someone and hope that they have money to give. I find that I get more money from people when I run them over, so you can try that.

•Missions-Obviously when you complete missions you get spending money. A good way to get cash. Just do some missions and you will eventually get more and more money to buy guns and hideouts with.

•Taxi missions-Bring people where they want to go in a cab and you will get some money. A very easy and quick way to get some cash. Just find a cab, and hit the vigilante button.

•Pizza boy-Go to the pizza shop, hop on the pizza boy scooter, and deliver pizzas. Another good way to get money. I personally like doing the pizza boy missions.

•Vigilante-Ambulance, Fire Truck, Police, Brown Thunder, FBI, Army, and swat are all vigilante missions. I recommend doing Brown Thunder because you get a lot of money from it and it is easy. Just get into an apache and hit the vigilante button. I find that the fire truck is the 2nd easiest. Ambulance isn't too hard either. All of the vigilante missions will get you some good money.

•Stunts- Doing weelies and stoppies on your motocycle or scooter will get you a small amount of money.

There are many different ways to get money. After you play the game for a while, you won't really need to worry as much about money.
Good Luck smile.gif .

I've found that in the missions 'Deathrow' and 'Rub Out' and any other gang killing related missions storyline or non-storyline, the gangsters always drop ALOT of money, not to mention some sweet guns. I made $4,000 in Deathrow from dropped money because I knew you didn't get payed for your own missions.

The firetruck missions gave me $60,000 or something I remember but it could have been a mission before I forgot to count the money. Nevertheless, it gives quite a lot. I'm also new to the game because I got it on Xbox 2 weeks ago. Don't play it that much. Your friend isn't lying when he said that there was $50 up for grabs with good citizn bonus.

I recommend the vigilante missions, quite easy to do (well they are for me) and make money quite easily.

With the taxi missions I think its 5 in a row gets you $1000 and it goes up each time I think.

Every 5 in a row you get a fare x 100 bonus. @5 = 500, @10 = 1000, etc.

To max out your money easy and early and fast (I read this on this board or another--can't remember which)--the following will max out your money in about 20-25 minutes $999,999,999.

**EDIT**
The method has been verified on PS2 version of the game. Apparently this will not work on PC version-- the time you get for each checkpoint decreases by 1 seconde each time you repeat it until it gets down to 6 seconds-- so unless you can get your cone crazy time down to single digits (very difficult but it is possible--if you nudge the cones around prior to picking up the first checkpoint) it is very difficult for most people to max out their money with this method.
***

METHOD:

Do cone crazy but when you have just the last checkpoint left pull up next to it but don't grab it until your timer is down to 1 second--then grab it. Take the stallion back to where you got it from and get out, get back in and cone crazy will start again-- repeat but then let timer get down to 2 seconds, then 3 seconds, then 4, etc...

Each time you beat your time your prize money doubles... it takes 23 times to max out your money... the money progression is as follows:

$200
$400
$800
$1,600
$3,200
$6,400
$12,800
$25,600
$51,200
$102,400
$204,800
$409,600
$819,200
$1,638,400
$3,276,800
$6,553,600
$13,107,200
$26,214,400
$52,428,800
$104,857,600
$209,715,200
$419,430,400
$838,860,800

If you do it 15 times, you will have plenty of money to finish the game--

The same trick can be used also on either test track or trial by dirt, but they take longer to complete.

To start cone crazy, go to the top of the garage where you met Lance in the Guardian Angels mission (one where you protect Diaz)-- about in the middle on the opposite side where you come up, there should be a Stallion parked there (could have a top or not)-- get in to start cone crazy--practice a bit before you try to max your money-- I normally get the 2 on the ramps first go up and sort of jump the corner and get the second one going back down--this one is the hardest to get and takes practice to be able to get it fast--the others are all pretty ez, get the one near the ramp next, get the one in the corner back by where you started after that, and then get the one in the circle of cones last.

If you want to repeat it, just drive the car (or any other stallion) back to the place it was parked when you started--get out and back in and it will start again.

Remember to just barely beat your time each time--if you beat it by too much you will quickly get to the point where you can't get done fast enough to beat your previous best time.

NOTE: THERE IS A GLITCH IN DOING THIS (a glitch within a glitch)--YOU WILL ACTUALLY LOSE ALL YOU MONEY IF YOU DO THIS 24, 25, OR 26 TIMES-- IF YOU DO IT 27 (500 milliion) OR 28 (over 1 billion) TIMES IT WILL GO POSITVE AGAIN-- I have not checked this out beyond improving your times beyond 28 times (yet)--if you want to know more about this read the series of posts on the 2nd page of this thread.

another way of getting money is picking up the 5000 after you do the Vercetti misions , And picking up the 4000 from the Pole position club. Picking up the 3,000 from the Ice cream store. Picking up 8,000 from the Film studio and picking up 10,000 from the Malibu (After you do the missions)

Did I miss any?

daily $9000 from sunshine and daily $8000 from print shop and daily $5000 from the taxi company. also i think it's $7000 from the film studio. remember you can do this once per cartoon day! for a little while i had fun making the rounds collecting cash...then i got bored with it since i didn't really need it, now i only pick up the cash if i happen to be going there or maybe passing by and not in a hurry.

You guys missed the Boatyard which does $2g. Cartoon is right that Interglobal does $7g a day. Just wanted to clarify a couple things. Money pickups don't go by a cartoon day, but rather 24 minutes of real time. The difference is when you save and stadium missions. Also, SSA does 4 different cash levels based on which list you've completed:
list$ amount
11500
24000
36500
49000

Completed assets are a good way to make money and that is why it is important the order in which you buy them. SSA and Malibu should be your first targest. SSA takes time to complete the lists. Time in which your other assets can build up money. Then when the lists are complete, the races also pass time as well as swell your stash. Malibu missions pay out so well that they alone can afford you another asset or 3.

isn't 24 minutes of realtime, 24 hours or cartoon time? a cartoon day?

Not necessarily. Load up a savegame and save. Even though you've only spent a few seconds of real time, already 6 hours of game time has gone by.

Yep, just wait around near North Point mall with a set of knuckledusters and belt anyone being chased by police (there are an awful lot of them up there!). It's only $50 per person, but you can actually rack it up quite quickly given the sheer number of opportunities you get.

Just don't use a gun...you'll get a nice shiny star as a reward if you do tounge.gif

A good way to get money off of stunts is to get a Faggio, go to a long stretch of road, speed up and then quickly lean foward and brake, once you are on your front tire again hit the gas and you will keep going on your front tire since it's front wheel drive. You can go for a very long time after you get used to it.

$1,638,400
$3,276,800
$6,553,600
$13,107,200
$26,214,400
$52,428,800
$104,857,600
$209,715,200
$419,430,400
$838,860,800

I tried this last night, and to a certain extent it worked, but there are some factors that weren't mentioned.

When you start Cone Crazy, each marker gives you 12 seconds, but after successfully completing it, the next time gives 11 seconds per marker, and continues reducing for each successive record completion until you reach 6 seconds per marker. All subsequent attempts give you 6 seconds per marker.

You DO get rewarded double for each successive record completion, but it's nearly impossible, in my limited experience, to set enough new records to max out your money.

Supposing you reach the "6 second marker" point, you've then set 6 new records, and achieved the $6,400 reward level. You then have a total of 30 seconds to work with in setting new records (5 markers, 6 seconds per marker).

Now, let say you nail it perfectly and set a new record at 30, then 29, then 28, etc.

30 = $12,800
29 = $25,600
28 = $51,200
27 = $102,400
26 = $204,800
25 = $409,600
24 = $819,200
23 = $1,638,400
22 = $3,276,800
21 = $6,553,600
20 = $13,107,200
19 = $26,214,400
18 = $52,428,800
17 = $104,857,600
16 = $209,715,200
15 = $419,430,400
14 = $838,860,800

Then you can conceivably do it.

But personally, I couldn't nail them perfectly on the second, and I couldn't do better than 18 seconds. I ended up achieving the $204,800 reward level at 18 seconds, for a total of $409,400 made using this method, which is plenty of money to complete the game with.

[edit]:

Okay, playing around a bit more, I hit 17 and then 16 seconds, achieving the $819,200 reward level for a total of $1,638,200 made using this method.

I have the PS2 version and it gives you get 12 seconds per checkpoint and it does not decrease at all.

So for collecting the first 4 checkpoints will give you 48 seconds max--

1st time 47 sec used (1 sec left)
2nd time 46 sec used (2 sec left)
etc
knocking off one sec per round it should be possible to MAX money with a best time of 24 seconds.

I have personally done this and maxed out my money with a best time of 22 seconds-- if you are using XBOX or PC then I guess you can't max it with that platform.

If you still don't believe me, just ask and I will start a new game, do it again and give you a screenshot of the money amount if you want to see it.

Alternately you can use the same method with test track or trial by dirt but it will take significantly longer (I believe they both have max times of 5 minutes)-- I wouldn't want to start either of those with much more then 3 minutes on the first round and then knock off 1 sec per round-- you are still talking about maxing your money in a little more then an hour.

FYI,

I don't make false claims on these message boards-- if I'm not sure of something I will say it and if anyone ever questions one of my claims I will gladly post a screenshot.

I can settle this one. Spuds is a good guy and posts exactly as he says he does. So if he says that's the way it goes for the PS2, then so be it. I just looked at the code for the PC, and the way Recluse desribes it is exactly how it's scheduled to go. So it must've been one of the easily abusable things in the game that they "fixed" for the PC version.

Thanks for the backup Dem...I will edit my original post to add that you can't max out your money on the PC version with this method (and explain why).

If I get a chance I will redo the cone crazy trick and get a screenshot--it is possible I took a screenshot of it when I did it last time so I will have to check and see.

Also, the example Recluse gave is a little off since you never get the time for the 5th checkpoint (the mission ends).

Theoretically you would could get it 6 times until your time for each checkpoint got down to 6 seconds (24 secs total)-- to max out your money you would have to do it 17 more times so you would have to get your total time down to 6 seconds (you would have to nudge cones around before grabbing the first one)-- 6 seconds is possible but very difficult-- and probably not worth the effort.

I've read your posts here Spuds, and I wasn't trying to suggest you were in any way being untruthful, in fact I think you're an extremely helpful member regarding gameplay and such.

My apologies if my post appeared to imply anything different.

BTW, in retrospect, you're absolutely right, my calculations were off regarding total available time at the 6 second level.

To quote an Australian guy I used to work with "No Worries Mate"...

Its understandable you would think it impossible with the times decreasing like that. I didn't think you were calling me a liar--but you were sort of throwing what I like to call the "BS flag" and I just wanted to clarify.

Actually, I was pretty jazzed to find that this method was possible, I started a new game just to test the latest "Early West Island Entry" method, and your Cone Crazy money making method.

I mean, sh*t man, no complaints here, I just made $1.6M game cash doing something I didn't know was even possible. colgate.gif

I just wanted to be a bit more specific with what my experience was when I tried it because you had written something about seeing this posted on another board, and I wasn't sure you had tried it.

I read it a while back but did not try it until recently-- I started a new game specifically to get up to "the driver" and "alloy Wheels of steel" and "the shooter".... I wanted to improve my stats in those missions (since you can only do them once). ---I got my "alloy" time down to 1:17, driver down to 1:50, and shooter up to 96.

Anyway, I didn't post that until I did it as I wasn't sure it was possible or not until I saw it with my own eyes...

and also to clarify, I have never tried the same trick on trial by dirt or test track.

Cone crazy: 8 seconds.

Also the doubling money for cone crazy has some weird glitch.

THe progression went as follows

$419,430,400
$838,860,800
$1,677,721,600
Then it got weird--started subtracting money

$ -939,524,096
$ - 1,879,048,192

then it went positive again

$536,870,912
$1,073,741,824
was the last one and is in my screenshot
