Just a quick post to introduce you to the file naming conventions you'll need to observe for your filenames to match the stations in the release GXT:
CODE
Old           New
Filename      Filename

head.adf   -> wild.adf
class.adf  -> flash.adf
kjah.adf   -> kchat.adf
rise.adf   -> fever.adf
lips.adf   -> vrock.adf
game.adf   -> vcpr.adf
msx.adf    -> espant.adf
flash.adf  -> emotion.adf
chat.adf   -> wave.adf

Old Name     New Name            GXT Entry

WILDSTYLE -> HEAD RADIO       -> FEA_FM0
FLASH     -> DOUBLE CLEFF FM  -> FEA_FM1
K-CHAT    -> JAH RADIO        -> FEA_FM2
FEVER 105 -> RISE FM          -> FEA_FM3
VROCK     -> LIPS 106         -> FEA_FM4
VCPR      -> GAME FM          -> FEA_FM5
ESPANTOSO -> MSX FM           -> FEA_FM6
EMOTION   -> FLASHBACK 95.6   -> FEA_FM7
WAVE 103  -> CHATTERBOX 109   -> FEA_FM8

You will need an original copy of GTA3 to make the necessary file transfers, a guide outlining the process will be posted shortly in the Audio topic. smile.gif

Okay, I went ahead and took an unedited american.gxt and added these changes to them to be able to release and actual file for others to be able to download. Anybody making any changes to the GXT should grab it, make their changes to it, update the enclose log with their changes and post a link here. I will of course update all forum links to reflect the updates.

First post edited with links. Official mod thread updated with link. Team credits expanded to include text for killer.ip and Demarest.

UPDATE
Click here to download location names! If the download won't work, right-click and click Save Target As. I finished almost all locations! I can't seem to work with islands and east side Portland.

So do you like it? Most of them is in Portland, half in Stauton, and I'm finishing the rest.

I don't know. What GXT tool are you using as only CyQ's is reliable. I only ask because when I open it up in ViceGXT, it shows a LOT less entries than I remember it having. Also, you should take the text file in the link I released and update it with history info and have that in the ZIP as well.

Seem's okay so far, but as Dem says CyQ's editor is the only one that's 100% reliable. I also noticed Saint Mark's is spelled St.Mark in your update, if you could check with GTA3 to make sure the titles are authentic that would help. smile.gif

I used ViceGXT editor. Nothing is deleted. Only two are added. The rest are replaced.

UPDATE

Finished all zones from GTA3 except island names.

Okay. I'm seeing the exact same problem as before. Take a look
user posted image
Do you see how that could be a problem? Furthermore, you still didn't ammend the log that's supposed to accompany this. You need to DL the GXT link I released, open up the ZIP, and take out the TXT file. Open it up and add EVERYTHING that you did to is and credit yourself. Then make sure it goes in the ZIP you release. Most importantly, which label were changed and what they were changed to.

actually, I dunno if you already saw it, but when you add too many zones, the game will crash at more than 25 or will crash when you'll get chased by the cops (the girsl who is telling where you are base herself on that a little bit).

I already have the FULL GTA3 location names for GTA:LC, but at 26 and +, it crashes right at start. Still not found the problem.... Maybe because of the memory reserved for this file is not big enough.....

Have you released a copy of this that has only 25 zones? I dont know which ones you would cut out for now, but wouldn't 25 working be better than none or a file that crashes your game, for the time being?
(just until a fix can be sorted of course)

If there is such a file please link me, thanx smile.gif

If there are 26 zones and we can only use 25, then I'd vote to combine Callahan Point and Callahan Bridge.

I agree biggrin.gif That narrows down one extra zone. How many zones does gta3 have anyway? How many more will we have to eliminate in order to make this work temporarily until a better solution can be found?

Can we combine them like this easily or would just not haveing a couple zones be the only temporary solution?

I counted 26 zones. There's 25 unique locations, and one extra zone that includes everything not in the 25 other zones. It's just called "Liberty City."

Perfect! I know you said in your last post

but after Knux had said
QUOTE

I figured there may have been more and that he would know for sure after doing all the navigation already.

That is good news that there is only one extra. Now can the two zones, Callahan Point and Callahan Bridge, be easily combined?
(you or someone else is probably already on the job if it is, I am sure)

GXT looks complete again. Now you understand why I was asking before about which GXT tool you were using. Documentation is still incomplete though. I keep trying to tell you this so you don't get so far that you can't remember what to jot down. A GXT file without an index for me is useless. Here, I'll show you what I mean:

In my released GXT, I included a text file called "GTALC GXT 1.txt" It reads
CODE
This is GTA: Liberty City's american.gxt work in progress. Below is version history, modification log, and credits. To anybody updating this file, be sure to increment the version number accordingly and add to the version history and modification log and credit yourself. Only official versions will be kept. Visit GTA:LC's forum at http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showforum=104

v1 - Radio stations (entries FEA_FM0 through FEA_FM8) updated to GTA3's radio stations. Schedule mapped by killer.ip and implimented for distribution by Demarest.
You would want to add to that v1.1 (or whatever) and then list which slots you changed and to what exactly. The only reason I didn't get specific with the entries I changed is because I happen to know those entries are read by the engine and not the code. In order for me to convert the code, I need ALL GXT calls made by the code documented as to what they became in VC's GXT.

Excellent! There you go.

I'm not going to lecture you on the values of reading readmes. As men, we're expected to toss the destructions aside. But I would like to point out that it is something I mentioned several times here. No matter. This way any future GXT editors will know what's being asked of them.

All's well that ends well. Why can't all contributors be this easy? Oh wait, they almost all are smile.gif

We're ready to add the new car names to the GXT. But before I did that, I wanted to make sure what Space Einstein did is okay with everybody. Should I download his version and update it yet?

Might want to add the Vice Cheetah to that, too, Knux.

Since the proper name for that kind of police car (no lights on top) is "Slicktop", I'd suggest using that. But it doesn't really matter.

Is the "Stop in the pink marker..." been changed to "Stop in the blue marker..." with blue font on "blue marker"?

BTW, like the new avatar(best I've made) and the Quote in the sig?
